I've got something similar for my laptop. It's okay for looking at the bores of a motor car cylinder, but not really much else as the light isn't really bright enough. I think for boiler tube inspection you'd want something more... reassuringly expensive.

One of the most important parts of an inspection endoscope is the person who is viewing and interpreting the results. For one thing there is no impression of scale which you have when you are viewing directly by eye. An inspection was being carried out with one of these devices many years ago when the inspector saw what he thought was a length of rope inside a boiler header. This was unacceptable and the header cap was cut off and a small piece of string was found which would not have caused a problem. It was expensive to weld the header cap back on.

Visual inspectors need to be qualified just as much as those who use ultrasonics, radiography or any other non destructive test technique. However these devices are very useful and the prices have fallen amazingly in the last few years. Just the thing for locating the nut you have just dropped down the blast pipe into the valve chest.

Can only confirm, we have also tried this. It is so easy to see the details, but so incredibly difficult to interpret what you see.
