I understand that a request has been made by the NRM that Scotsman be locked in a secure area during it's holiday in Somerset.
Perhaps the compound at Bishops Lydeard would be an appropriate site.

After witnessing the crowds of people out to see Scotsman 0n Friday when it travelled from Newport to Gloucester and Bristol, there is a huge following for the loco. Families of all generations are keen to see the loco. Just ten years ago it was seen as naff to have any interest in railways. Now with the likes of Top Gear featuring Tornado and the media interest in Scotsman, it seems that steam locomotives are now the 'in' thing. Let's hope that this may spur a few youngsters into an interest of steam trains as indeed the Thomas events have. <BJ>

The BL loco compound will indeed be its base, with additional security measures.

Just back from an excellent day on the QB. A big all round improvement since last year. All credit to Barrie and ALL the team for a memorable experience. A great advert for the WSR.

I have been out today checking the route and writing the route instructions for the WSR Classic Car Run on Sunday 4 June.

The Run takes in some great coastal scenery and local landmarks like Dunster, but I like the countryside by-ways best.

A couple of shots as below.

I hope you are not sending those nice shiny cars through that muddy gate, Robin.

With the help of the WSR Commercial Office staff the Route Instructions for the WSR Classic Car Run on Sunday 4 June went out today and I am pleased to say we have achieved my target for this year of 70 classics, which should make a grand sight along the line.

It is not too late to enter -we could handle another 10 - 15 vehicles.

Can I encourage the WSR photographers to be out on their favourite spots to catch cars, Railway and perhaps even steam together along the way.

And now I am out clearing my (to be) fruit and veg patch, waiting to see the charter pass, unfortunately without The Engine That Cannot Be Named (or is that timed?). Still, 7F's are pretty special for we Somerset folk and it's great to have them both on our line...

You must be inspired by terraced rice fields..................

I had a (slightly less steep) allotment so would recommend some non slipboots

Looks like it will be a nice little veg patch.

The fruit bit wouldn't be for cider apples would it?:)

Correct on both scores as below.

But come and see for youstlves on Stogumber's 'Open Gardens' weekend, 24/25 June, a range of stunning gardens all for £6 towards local charities.

Such a priviledged place to live.

Is the gravel around 2 sides ballast for a garden railway?

    Part of the drainage system.

With a rather special Railway at the bottom of my garden, there really isn't any need for another one....

Oh come on! Dosn't matter what gauge, there's always room for a little bit more railway! Why would so many of us buy things from Hornby or Bachmann otherwise! :p;)

    Thanks.

These are recent castings from a pattern held by the GloucWarcs Railway.

I have been asked to arrange a second batch for some other folk -do see my recent post in the 'Everything Else Heritage' Forum.

I have been trying to keep the refurb consistent with the 1907 date of the house. Expect the tired green paint to turn light / dark stone shortly.:)
