Seen at Twyford in the gloom running well on the down main. Twyford station not was it was. Platform 1, one of the best vantage points and a fence preventing access to the down middle platform, also a brilliant vantage point. Not to mention the installed overhead pylons. Shame really.

I guess most people will be more interested in the outward leg but as you ask 59.202 is at present running 0Z64 Westbury to Exeter Riverside. <BJ>

I know this may not be of interest to the died in the wool steam men,but the use of any 59 West of Exeter on passenger is well rare and although the 59/0-1 have been down to PZ on staff charters before I cannot REMEMBER any /2's being that far ever

I wonder when was the last time that a steam locomotive departing a London terminus put in an appearance at Exeter 187 minutes (or so) later? Remarkably close to the early 60's down ACE overall schedule of 185 minutes (to Exeter Central) inclusive of intermediate stops. So maybe that would have been the last time?? Perhaps the on-board Southern fraternity could help with this one. But meantime, this must have been a real barnstormer of a run for all to enjoy this morning. You lucky people!!!

So they couldn't thread us through the needle at Exeter. Looped at Newton Abbot and now held at Plymouth for about 15 min to let the HST go ahead. ETA PNZ won't be until at least 1520.

Despite the delay at Exeter and again at Plymouth, this was a trip to have been on. RTT tells you all you need to know about the run to Exeter that must stand out. It's 174 miles from PAD. With two stops the running time was about 173 min. And in Cornwall Tornado blasted up hill and down dale. Brilliant.

Yet again, does what is said on the tin, another performance to add to the long list.
DBS certainly seem able to get the most out of her at all opportunities.

Steerage class was at the front leaving Paddington. Result! :)
Some superb sounds from Tornado today. Hard to pick a favourite but the climb out of Par to beyond St. Austell was pretty tasty.
Nice to have met R. Mellish Esq. and Big Al on the way down.

For me the 1 in 80 out of Truro was remarkable. A steady 36. That needs a DBHP calculation when I get back

Look forward to seeing the result.
Currently plodding our way through Cornwall on an HST. Time to get the headphones out and relive Tornado's performance from earlier today.
