WSR Diesel Gala - Friday 9th- Sunday 11th June 2017

To be fair two of the three days the first trains from the "public" end of the line are with the home based second tier loco's (33/47) as much as I don't personally dislike them it's not a very good window to attract the punters, it would be better if the early trains were the visitors or the hydros. This should be obvious surely

 

Glad to see working timetable available free and ahead of the gala.

Brilliant news regarding shuttle service from Taunton to BL by GWR

 

I'll guess something from Colas.

 

Well there are a few "interesting" suspects in that fleet but as 66761 a few years ago proved, just because it's here it doesn't mean it'll work a passenger

 

In previous years, it's tended to be GBRf which has brought the locos in.

 

I'm only guessing at something from Colas because one of 59 and 188's minders is a Colas driver, and they've been used to move them in the past.

 

I was told on Sunday that use of the 04 at the gala is very unlikely, the shuttles on Fri and Sat will be 09/03 t&t and the DMU Sunday, the 09 will go down LE Thurs, pity that they could have run it down as a service early doors Fri but that's probably operationally awkward. Again it appears that next year will be the first Diesil gala that they deem worth making an effort with, the three guest loco's this year IMO are very good choices but they way the diagrams have been written seams very short sighted

 

Depends who's organising and paying .Their last holiday didn't involve Colas.

 

If they will release this info for diesel galas, it's a bit unfair that they won't do the same for steam galas.

 

Diesel wise no roster reduced passenger numbers .Until the roster was published I had accommodation booked at both ends of the line.
Some steam not as fussy but I cannot remember the last steam or diesel gala I attended without a free roster to plan my day so SVR ,WSR steam events dont get my custom /rover ticket money.

How much is Taunton-Bishop Lydeard GWR shuttles please?.

Any idea when class 20s arrive please?

 

Our unofficial poster for the rail shuttles between Bishops Lydeard and Taunton this weekend. Please contact the WSR or GWR for any clarification.

 

Class 20s are expected on Wednesday - coming in via the main line. No idea of times - watch Real Time Trains for that. Also no idea what will be hauling them!

Rumour is that it will be a Class 50 bringing them.

 

No chance of the 50 working the gala ?

 

I for one would be surprised if it does, just because it's being used to bring things in doesn't mean it'll work, when a GBRF shed brought in the 59 a few years back it would have been easy to couple it up and plug it in and work as a pair, a 50 if indeed it is a 50 cannot work in multi with anything else, so never say never but not likely
