Nor Broad Gauge Cattle for that matter!

Though the way our forebears used to breed them, that's probably no bad thing - standard gauge cattle get my vote. :)

  3. The delayed train had Quantock Belle restaurant cars attached. We served a four-course summer lunch today but none of those courses were lamb dishes. Wrong kind of farm animal then.

We were rather pleased that today's weather matched our offer. Last time we served this particular menu was on 17th May, monsoon/Antiques Roadshow day:

Chilled Homemade Gazpacho Andaluz with fresh bread roll and butter
    –—
Homemade Smoked Cheese and Tomato Pastry with fresh basil
    –—
Chilled Roast Topside of Beef with a selection of seasonal salads

Meat-free (pre-ordered only): Mushroom and Tarragon Frittata

    ON THE RETURN JOURNEY:

Somerset Cream Tea with locally-made scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream

Dunno. When I was in Somerset the other week (and when you didn't take up my offer of a glass of cider) I noticed some pretty fat sheep in some of the fields.

Just a thought BUT if you are out and about to phot FS and plan on getting it at a station, you MAY find a bit of crowd control to keep to non traveling peeps off, in the interests of safety and all that

Given the behaviour of the sheep on the WSR, I would go for the former. The sheep are either Welsh immigrants, or it's an east-west thing.

What sort of 2-bit operation are they running at the WSR?

Sheep with no high-vis vests and trees with leaves.

It’s true, we did let the sheep on the line without hi-vis, Fireman Price is seen here chasing them to check their PTS Cards and Lineside Passes, at least that’s what he told us !! I was Firing the following train and repeated the exercise but nobody took a photo luckily.

Note the embankments are cut back hard here so at least we are trying to remove the leaves from the trees and indeed the trees as well,.

BR's statement might have been ridiculed in the press but it was factually correct. Dry snow is relatively rare in the UK and different methods of filtering are required. I was in Hanover one winter when they had a fall of UK style wet snow. Chaos ensued as they were geared up for dry snow. Most noticeable was that tram services were suspended and the railways coped none too well.
