Where does W.I.L.N. (Wouldn't it look nice) stand WRT W.I.B.N?

 

I suspect those like you or I who understand what "9d" meant and are under 50 are very much in the minority, even though we do exist.

I set pub quizzes - now why aren't you surprised.

For a few years my favourite tie break question was:

'How many farthings in a guinea?'

Hmmm, it's got to be 4 times 12, carry the eight, add 21, divide by the number you first thought of, add the running number of Dinmore Manor, divide by a 7F (can never remember whether that step means divide by 88 or 89 - don't suppose it makes much difference), stake the number of pounds you get on the third horse in the 3:30 at Wincanton at 6-1 on -- is the answer 1008, Miss?

It's the Question setters birthday.
After everyone has gone through all the historic answers possible.

My understanding of that is, cranks are box bashers (diseasel lovers......) & normal's are those of us who like steam , just as Mr & Mrs J public d0.........

Not sure the other Signalmen would be pleased by the new uniform. The trident might be useful in getting enginemen off shed, though.

Usually the problem with getting off shed is waiting for the Bobby to turn up and then answer the phone. Well, it is on the NYMR, anyway.

 

It's Class 115 DMBS number 51887. There is also a Mk1 SK number 25454 there under tarpaulins.

 

That may be a useful deterrent.
