Because of the livery I'd imagine! 73082 and 30541 fit better, along with 34092 visiting.

Is 'crimson and cream' different to 'blood and custard' and/or is there an aversion to using the latter description? I grew up with 'blood and custard' and it always makes me smile, but I notice it doesn't get used much on NatPres and wondered if there was a particular reason for it.

    Off-topic I know, sorry.

Certainly no difference in liveries, no idea why it doesn't get used so much here!

No particular sensitivity, I guess blood and custard is a bit more informal, so crimson and cream tends to be referred to more in more formal things like Bluebell News.

TBH, from my end of the train I tend not to notice liveries very much anyway. The key issues about carriages tend to be:

    1) Where are they hiding first thing, and where are they going to go to bed last thing?
    2) How many of them are there?
    3) How much do they weigh?
    4) What's the disposition of vac bags relative to those on the engine? (down and down = :) down and up = :) up and up = <grrrr/>
    5) Is there a corridor connection? (speaking on behalf of the Amalgamated Union of Ballast Scrabblers and Coupling Operatives, such devices should be banned...)

I'm sure the "they" department worry about all sorts of things like seating capacity, provision of a guards compartment etc. when deciding train formations, but the above five just about cover it from my point of view :)

Crimson and Cream is a new one on me. I've always heard this scheme referred to as Carmine and Cream....................... or Blood and Custard!

Latest Loco Roster showing that No. 65 is due to be in revenue traffic on 15/16 July; and then daily from 22 July. (Also that 34092 is due in traffic at weekends through July on the B train (11:10 departure ex-SP).

    http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/loco_roster.html

All subject to usual caveats about availability.

Also, just as a warning / note for anyone wanting to ride behind No. 65: assuming that I have read my notices correctly, on Sundays in which there is also a Golden Arrow lunchtime train (GL on the loco roster), the first A train of the day (10am from Sheffield Park) will be hauled by the GL engine, with the A engine coming on to haul the 12;15 and 2:45 services ex-SP. On Saturdays and midweek, the A engine hauls all three A trains.

Tom - from my end of the train I dont really care what colour they are either other than to describe the set

    N -LNER Teaks, L - LMS, C - Carmine & Cream, M - Maroon set , S- Dining set and GW2 - Choc and Cream.

Weights are no problem with most coaches as they have a cast plate. The odditys are GW - Painted somewhere on the underframe and DMUs where the weight plate was a transfer not replaced when they were painted.

One thing thankfully does not happen these days is the caption on the phot of the driver and guard talking to each other "driver giving guard details of the train". The guard can count and add up and describes the train to the driver as for example - 6 for 201 (6 bogie coaches 201t tare) The only thing I need from the driver is his name, so we know who to book lost time against :) LOL, and the engine number

A while ago it was said that the Bluebell would be getting the old WHSmiths bookstall from Surbiton and then reassembled at East Grinstead. According to a post on Twitter it's currently being disassembled ready to be moved to the line.

Assuming the plan is to still place it at East Grinstead it should be a nice addition to the station.

On the note of East Grinstead station, are there any plans for further buildings there or will the moveable booking offices that have been there since opening stay up there?

There is an aspiration in the BRPS Long Term Plan for permanent buildings, at least.

The available space is I think a significant constraint on the East Grinstead station site.

Quick note that "Baxter" will be giving brake van rides around Horsted Keynes this coming Saturday afternoon, in connection with the formal launch of the Arts Council supported "Elephant Van" play and education facility - http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/pic2/sceneryvan.html

Normal Service 2 timetable in operation, with 847 and 263 hauling the service trains.
