Interesting choice for the BBP ! I assume it's the only steam loco available for this ?

The Scot really had to dig in on the long climb to Abinger Hammer. Great spectacle, possibly one too coach to many ?

46100 Royal Scot digging into the climb near Albury from a foot crossing, no diesel on the back and sounding absolutely superb! Can we have her on this again?

Royal Scot is seen digging in on the final 1/2 mile of Gomshall Bank ! Poor coal has been cited as a problem recently, maybe it affected the Scot ?

Had a conversation with a LSL support crew member recently who said that the Scot is not the most willing of steamers compared with others in the stable, notably Braunton. So it may not all be a coal problem if indeed that was the case anyway.

No surprise a Bulleid produces steam in good volume! Maybe 46100 will follow the trajectory its class mate has followed - 46115 seems to have been improved year on year over its current ticket.

Huge load for a Scot, I'd suggest it is doing quite well in those clips.

Wow. 46100 Royal Scot at Woking on the Belmond Pullman!! Just caught the end of an announcement which thrilled me to bits. Woking power box had taken the trouble to record an announcement which said "passengers waiting for the steam train, this train will pass through platform 5 in one minute". Wonderful.

Could it also be that the crew are not as familiar with the way a Scot is driven compared with the WCR crews.

Nothing like a huge load. In real steam days some of the Expresses out of Euston could load up to 14-16 coaches. The toughest footplate job in the country was the Crewe - Perth Parcels worked throughout by Crewe North men with a Scot and that could be a very heavy train. It was lodge at Perth and back on, I think, the sleeper the following day. Not surprisingly for the crew the following day was a mandatory rest day. I knew a volunteer at the SVR who was a fireman at Crewe and regularly did it. He told me that if they thought it was going to be a bad run then they would load the tender up to the loading gauge and get the coalman to put some bags on the footplate so they had a lot more than the nominal capacity of 9 tons and on several occasions he showed the driver a shovel full of dust passing Hilton Junction saying ' that's the lot mate.' The story was related when one of the volunteer fireman was grumbling about the size of the firebox on Britannia, firing over Shap and Beattock twice in two days is something I don't think anyone would contemplate now.
