The HOBC (or the track laying equivalent) was hard at work all last night again in Pewsey. For all the din (Thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, Whir, whoosh, Beep - Beep, Whir, whoosh, Beep - Beep, thump, thump, thump, etc..... ) it makes it is still nice to know that the B&H line is receiving a great deal of investment; moreover, it is a definite bonus that the WSR is benefiting from our collective insomnia! =D>

 

The story about High Wycombe station is very interesting, would love to see that at the WSR

The first (western) chord is all but complete, and with a tad more ballasting at the western extremity, is ready for the HOBC on a regular basis; the underbase of the eastern chord embankment is in place; the Barney branch is cleared of all vegetation.

its apparently the neighbour causing grief from what i was told as apparently its their fence at the bottom of the garden and they didnt want it removed, i spose thats fair as it would need to be taken out every wekend during the summer

 

Work due to have started yesterday on the second road and new pit at Lydeard...

Recent photgraphs on wsr.org show the "first movement" --a well-loaded pump trolley--over the small part of the Barnstaple branch recently relaid at Norton.

Looking at the photographs, surely a pump trolley is an instrument of torture bound to give you a very bad back?

Anyone on here have personal experience of operating one of these machines?

Yes thankyou Bill, but my question was about the "quality" of the excercise, or rather what state your back is in after a pump trolley run, given the rather awkward-looking bending stance necessary.
