Train reported as 34052 "Lord Dowding" top 'n tail with 33.207.
Let's hope that the 33 can manage Evershot. <BJ>

Well if you have to have an oily diesel on the back I suppose it's best to have a Southern one!

Sadly following a Basingstoke stopper when it passed me between Farnborough and Fleet, so running on double yellows. Quite a contrast to CLAN LINE on Wednesday! Anyway, four pictures now on Flickr if anyone would like to see them:

    Hope they're of interest.

34046 is sufficiently powerful to not need assistance in normal running.

Looking good at Battledown Flyover. A 33 on the back seems appropriate, somehow!

Didn't have time/ lack of water in tanker ? to get a full tank, probably a water saving exercise...

34052 almost made it unassisted up Upwey with the 33 idling for the most part. She really was at full whack, but still had enough steam to be blowing off! Quite an exceptional noise. The 33 came into life as 34052 was almost in the tunnel at Bincombe. Sounded bloody lovely!

Wow. That must have been great to see and hear. A Bullied in full cry now that is a noise to die for. Seems the "bag of nails" assisted at the very end and that's all. Fantastic. I am off to Farnborough Main and hope to see it racing through there!

.....without the bag of nails which seems to be making its own way to Waterloo as planned :)

Seen at St Cross, south of Winchester.
Going really well, but a blowing gland has developed since this morning, luckily not leaking much.

Class 33 followed a few minutes behind. Sounded much better than many 33's at the end of their working careers.

    Chers, Neil
