    Yes unrest in the region is unlikely to help the tourist trade. At least the trouble was not in Darjeeling but Sonada which is unlikely to have many visitors staying there. If I remember correctly from earlier this year I filmed this accident at Sonada

    If you read the histories of the DHR it has been affected periodically by the actions of groups seeking an independent Ghorkaland for a very long time.
    My very first visit to the DHR fell foul of the hill section of the railway going on strike for this reason a couple of days before we got there and whilst we did get to Darjeeling by road, no sooner had we arrived than the entire town went on strike!
    No trouble of the type described here, although when we came to leave a couple of days later it was in a convoy escorted by the Indian Army.
