Good guest engines so far. Haven't seen the B12 in action.

May have to try and get down for this.

'Morning Matt, many thaks for piccie - yes, not seen this loco before. Only had a brief visit to the NNR several years ago so definitely time for a re-visit.

That'll make it 20 years since the B12 last appeared at the GCR Winter Gala..........in 1998 !

Seen approaching Rothley - before the double track was put into operation - on 7th February 1998.

Nice photo. To me it is spoiled by the reflections on the tender. It shows you why I dislike shiny locos. Unless you lived in Crewe, Doncaster etc. you very rarely saw shiny locos. BR grime is the best livery. :D

I take your point but we're not living in the 1960's anymore! The B12 has a wonderful finish even after 5 years in traffic to let that go mucky would be criminal in my opinion!

Going to be a rather colourful gala livery wise! Looking forward to it already!

Feel free to buy, restore your own loco and let it get dirty. :p

Locomotives in the 1960s were also poorly maintained and withdrawn and cut up the minute anything went wrong.

Superb news about the B12 and the crab coming to the gala. I always wanted these locos to visit the GCR for a long time
