If that turns out to be her last main line run for a while, that last picture is rather fitting ...

There was a rake of Statesman coaches at Crewe a couple of weeks ago.

With the change of ownership it will be interesting to see how the whole business develops and the Fellsman in particular. Will they use their own motive power and stock by agreement with WC?

    Interesting times...

Since Railfilms days, Statesman have owned a number of Pullman-style liveried Mk2s (not a full set) plus a kitchen car and two saloons, the 'LMS Club' (a converted TSO) and GWR Family Saloon No.9004. Statesman's parent company, LSL, have number of 'blood & custard' Mk2s in traffic, plus some Mk1 FOs under rebuild. For their land-cruise and day trip diesel-hauled operations, the Mk2 have been supplemented either by WCR's Lakeland (Manchester) Pullmans or Mk2s also painted in a Pullman style (the shades of brown and cream differ slightly to the Statesman vehicles and they don't have white roofs).

The steam-hauled 'Fellsmen' have always been (and continue to be) WCR operations, promoted and marketed by Statesman, using WCR's coaches, together with the two saloons, neither of which are currently in traffic.

Brushing my criticisms aside I'm so happy that 46115 is ending this boiler ticket on a strong note. 2014 and 2017 seem to be the years that stand out but the 2012 Tour that She did on The Highland Mainline was magnificent. I hope that the consistency holds up post overhaul.

The 'jungle telegraph' reports that if all is well 46115 should work the 'Dalesman' next week. I, personally, don't know for certain, so please don't shoot the messenger!

Top marks to all who got the reliability into it, it's history is a bit hit and miss but it's going well now and IMO it's as good as anything out there. A Scot in good nick, going well, what's not to like. I hope they can get the same reliability out of BIL when it finally gets out (any colour you like;))

A last minute decision to slog up the M1 and M6 for what may be my last pictures of 6115 for a while resulted in some mixed and frustrating times. The last two shots were in cloudy weather but I had full sun on the walk back to the car.
Locations are, in the morning, Wilpshire, leaving Clitheroe and Helwith Bridge. The two on the return run are at Ais Gill and Nappa

Thats not such a bad location after all. I think we met briefly when I had a look but decided to try and find a gap in the clouds somewhere else. I have posted my results on this thread and I did find the sun on the walk back to the car at Ais Gill!

+1 from me in that, it's clear from all the images yesterday that the safety valves feathering suggest steam is never in short supply with 46115, sad that it's the boiler life cycle that means it has to be stopped just as it gives the impression of being nicely bedded in mechanically. Hopefully it's pet status will put it ahead of the other class 7s at Carnforth in the overhaul queue.

True Danny but 46115 did have boiler work to extend her ticket so perhaps not massive work needed after all ?

Yeah I was just meaning the mandatory stopping for a boiler lift seems to be unfortunate timing as it obviously goes better than ever, almost the equal of a Duchess?
As you say hopefully no boiler nasties discovered and it is found not too tired mechanically when pulled apart.

As I booked on the Tuesday Dalesman earlier today I sincerely hope your sources are right! I've never had the pleasure of 46115, but 46100 left a lasting impression when she was resident at the svr for a short period the other year.

Had a day with SG on a 'White Rose' job a few years ago (Ron Smith in the saddle) Wakefield Westgate to KX (1st class;)) That was a good day. SG was in fine form, only got looped a couple (ish) times. WE enjoyed our day. The Scots are up there with the Deltics in my book (for giving pleasure).

Almost equal to a Duchess? I think not. Look back at the many sets of summit times and speeds. A very good Class 7 yes, and always noisy and entertaining with it's unique sound; but nowhere near a Duchess in performance.
