I think you'll find it's D1015 which will be representing the class at the open day.

Oh dear, some careless wording. I am unlikely to be invited into the cab, now.

More seriously, I meant seeing such creatures as foxes darting across the track, and dmu's offer great potential in that respect.

Yes, craft b@gg*rs the urban fox: not only do they raid domestic bins but some are now observed catching the train to reach areas of more plentiful food ;)

Foxes 'darting across' the West Somerset Railway could be a bit sensitive to the local hounds..........

(Looks like the local foxes have 'remembered'!)

Aa an animal lover, that is OK by me, as long as they don't compete with me for the seats behind the driver.

I've been keeping up with some threads on here but was way behind on this one, hence a couple of delayed follow-ups.

    Way back on page 301
How come the S&DJR Class 7F is allowed more than the Stanier 8F?

    And more recently
In the 2017 picture, what is that coach in the left middle distance? The livery almost looks like CIE black and tan.

It's SK 25454. The chocolate and cream colours are very faded.

So faded, in fact, that it's T&DR logo is clearly visible.

West Somerset Railway - Then and Now #45

    Minehead signal box 1977 / 2017

Hard to believe that the box hasn't moved between the two shots, but the fields around it have become flats and a supermarket car park...

The building visible on the left in the 'then' shot is Minehead Lido. Opened proudly in the 30's but crumbling by the 1970's.

To be fair it does only claim to be a guide but....

As you have noted S&D 2-8-0 permitted 12, Stanier 8F 11 and I in the context of Manors noted previously that they were allowed 9 coaches whereas the more powerful 43xx were only permitted 8

    Other anomalies include 42xx 2-8-otank 10, 52xx 2-8-0 tank 11
What is a BR Standard Class 5 2-6-4 tank ?
Allowance is made for the propensity of Bulleid Pacifics to slip ie WC/BB 9 but then a Merchant Navy is permitted 12
A Hall ( whether Collett or Hawksworth ) is only allowed 9 (compare with Manor) as is a Stanier 5 4-6-0

It might be better if it stipulated (as per GWR BR(W) WTTs) tons Tare rather than number of coaches.

Perhaps on reflection it does not even merit the epithet 'guide' -:)

5025 was noted in traffic in carmine and cream yesterday (Thursday), bringing the total to 6. It must have been sent out in a hurry as the numbers have not been applied yet, they are chalked on the chassis!

It is not a guide. It is the limit as stated in the rulebook under General Appendix 4.8.1.

In some cases, the permitted maximum would not be wise but it would be worth watching.
