Good to see a mainline Pacific, The Scottish Engine, playing a supporting role to GWR 813.

 

Actually it's from Yorkshire.

Some pictures from yesterday's Charter at Didcot involving two of Sir Nigel's finest. Stretching the bounds of realism a bit to have two LNER Pacifics on a GWR shed but it may well be the last time it's possible to see them together.

great photos. I have a bit of an FS aversion illogically (probably due to overexposure to it an an early age) but it looks great in this guise

 

Not so much exposure as me, I first saw it, according to my surviving notebooks at Kings Cross in 1959 and have been photographing it since it looked like this

 

Great to see. Did 4079 get lined up with the A3 at any time?

 

No I think the consensus was the GW stuff should be kept out of the way and I don't think 4079 can be moved. I didn't see it so it may have still been in the workshop

 

Righto, thanks. I'd just seen on Facebook it had been given a coat of green for the weekend. I shall await the reunion one day

 

Does anybody know why, at the Monday am charter, the locos where facing each other and never moved in the whole three hours of the charter?

 

I have seen some pictures from Monday am and I think they did

 

There is a picture of this event on P5 of today's Daily Telegraph. Good publicity for Didcot

 

John, the only time Scotsman moved was after the charter had unofficially finished at about 9:15. No.9 was turned on Sunday night (and was meant to be turned again that night but we were running rather late at the end).

Superb photos there. Just like Kings Cross Top Shed in the early 1960's?

 

I think the shed scene is better with them like that.
