This is shown on the UK Steam website with a DL at the rear, but Steam Dreams have assured me that it will not have a DL. Which is correct?

I would assume this is the loco from the ECS going back to Southall (and providing banking to Grosvenor Bridge).

    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/O24842/2017/09/05/advanced

However from RTT it would appear to be timed in advance of the main train by a couple of minutes!

One would hope the tour operator would know better than UK Steam, but I guess the only ones who really know are WCRC.

That path appears to have disappeared from RTT? It's a shame if they cart a diesel all the way to Yeovil and back as with the return routing through W Brompton I don't think a reversal is involved and therefore no need for a diesel. However, as always, there may be something we don't know about.

So we are talking here about an ex British Railways Standard Locomotive that seems unable to fit in a number of places. With all this stop start stuff it is hardly surprising perhaps that the train needs some extra help.

If anyone on here is on this today please could you advise whether or not there is a DL on the back as if I know by about 1015 I can still pick it up at Basingstoke. Thanks

Re the trailing DL: this will be Ollie's first mainline run for quite a long time, so perhaps not surprising owners and operators want some "insurance" today. Let's hope it's a one-off and not normal practice for this loco's final months on the mainline.

Thanks. S15s and others in shed? Feltham crews would sometimes get main line passenger turns

I think the 30mph ones are precautionary as with 60103, probably NR claimng they can't gauge it propely as it hasn't been put through the MRI scanner at the local hospital!
The retyring would only affect the height, hence the bridge restrictions. I'm puzzled by the restriction on the Down Main at Hook, it must be the road bridge as there is no platform there. It won't apply to this train as it's on the Down Local. I'm planning to see it at Stowel recovering from the 5mph on the 1/80.
I,m pleased to see there's no DL Schlusslok/ Angstlok!

Thread drift- S15s on the SO Waterloo to Basingstoke were my total favourite!

70013 53 yrs later is remarkable especially with champagne/ coffee/ chocolate biscuits and a fried egg roll!
Didn't have that on the stoppers!!!

For interest was it banked up to Grosvenor Bridge by the ECS diesel or did it do it all on its own?

The gauge restrictions seem quite few if that is the total list. There are more than that on the DCE each week.

Spirited departure from Winchfield 7 late. Great to see no diesel. There appeared to be many empty seats except in the single standard coach.
