Says the man who manages to introduce a WC angle into just about everything including the shipping forecast and never, ever lets go. I suppose you just can't help yourself.

But then again, I would have thought that this is what 'debate' on a forum is all about? There's several thousand on here, so one should expect to be picked up on something.

Martin that's a damming thing to say considering you are making a wild guess, and in doing so insinuating that the driver did not know what he was doing. Is it any wonder that some of us want to defend WCR when such unsubstantiated comments are made.
Maybe you should reconsider the contents of your post.

Footage of 35018 yesterday morning at Starricks Farm and just getting going again at Clapham Moor after slipping to a stand. Also includes shots of the Cumbrian Coast Express and 42073 on the L&H.

The way this seems to work is if I or anyone post something you and your pals look for an insinuated slur against a firm which, correct me if I am wrong, you do not represent. You then proceed to repeatedly draw attention to the alleged slur and how terrible it is for the firm you don't represent. Your pretext being you are defending their reputation, on whose orders we know not.
Taking this thread as an example, I made no mention of WC, the loco, performance, operation, stock, crew etc - either actual or implied - yet here you are banging on yet again about how I am anti WC. If you were serious about wanting that sort of thing to go away why keep mentioning it? The facts speak for themselves, you and your pals are stirring up anti WC issues by alleging underlying motives for otherwise simple comment and speculation. Grow up and move on.

I agree wholeheartedly but there is a little bunch who seem only interested in picking certain posts not so much for what is said but the fact it is said and pointing out it may be negative towards certain organisations. As you say this is a debating forum, more than anything, so one should expect to have opinions challenged, not the right to hold or express them within forum rules however. Turning the discussion to speculate on motives and basis for opinions reasonably expressed is a deliberate ploy by some to cause disharmony to deflect, I think, from the lack or paucity of any counter argument in most cases. A bit like shooting the messenger upon receipt of disappointing news.

It's done a big end bearing, nobody, repeat NOBODY can foresee or plan for that. IMHO Carnforth turned that machine out in 100% fit and healthy condition because IF there had been a doubt/question mark over any little thing about it............it wouldn't have turned a wheel.
I'm going out in my car today, as it stands the car is in first class mechanical condition.......no faults. I have no idea when or if a part, A BEARING etc, will fail.
Well done Carnforth, you've done a top job with BIL, yesterday gave a lot of people a lot of pleasure, get the big end fixed, fire it up, and get it out on the road again.

Edit. And I think that paint job looks bloody fantastic.Whoever has painted that........I'll buy 'em a pint. Well done.

A wise man from China once said "shì shì nán liào", which roughly translated means "s**t happens".

Ok it failed, but at least they had a go and the world hasn't come to an end, and it will be repaired, and I can't wait to see it on the S & C.

The livery and finish are superb, it's just a shame the sun didn't shine.

On a positive note at least we didn't have to suffer a red Jubilee piloting it back from York, lol

    LONG PRESTON

SKIPTON where it was absolutely flying!

GARGRAVE on the return run with "Galatea".

It's indicative of the 21st Century disease of being offended on behalf of someone they do not represent or even know if they have even been offended. But it gives them something to fill their lonely hours...

Agree on that. Perhaps we can now also agree that West Coast knows exactly how to do 'authentic' when it suits them irrespective of the wibble on here as that's exactly what they have done with British India Line. Well done to all.

Well, what do you know! Another thread filling up with stale recirculated hot air. Take it to chat - that way it gives people a chance to ignore non-thread related, self-absorbed garbage.

Agreed the valve settings may be why it doesn't sound right. Compare and contrast with 35028 which after a couple of test runs went straight out and performed brilliantly with 500 tons on its first service run and has just got better since. Oh for run up Stoke on the fast line to compare with Tornado at its best.

Agree, what everyone has overlooked is that turning out a less than perfect engine risks quite a heavy financial penalty if it sits down on a busy mainline so they just wouldn't do it. Anything mechanical can have an unexpected failure, it's what keeps the AA and RAC in business.

Good advice, we look forward to you heeding it and applying it extensively in that case.
