    There's a break of gauge at the top, which was the reason the station was so large, placed in the middle of French standard and Spanish broad gauge.

    If I remember correctly, the reason the line was closed was a runnaway freight on the French side, caused by a power cut.
    In 2014, the SNCF were rebuilding the lower part of their side out of Pau, some way back into the hills. There is hope :)
    It's a smashing line to discover.
