RTT shows path (5Z53) from Peterboro to March cancelled due to problem with steam engine

 

RTT now showing departed Peterborough 47 minutes late.

 

Interesting. The path appears to have been resurrected with the same starting time but no further times recorded.

 

Apparently ran a hot box at Peterborough, and is now in Eastfield being checked over.

 

Hot box on tender unfortunately !

 

Does that mean it's game over for this evening's run to Norwich then?

 

Not necessarily. I see that 5Z53 has been updated in RTT to say departed P'boro 15:58 (113L). Does this mean that remedial action has been successful and FS is on her way to Ely, or that the ECS is proceeding without FS? Anyone "on the ground" able to enlighten the rest of us?

 

Stock has proceeded under 5Z53 with 47760 only, 60103 been left at Eastfield. Just seen it near Whittlesea.

Yes I have heard that flying scotsman is due to go to the NVR sometime today for repairs, not 100% certain though.

 

Heard the same thing, loco to go to NVR tonight.

 

Watching it sat adjacent to Eastfield Signal Box as I type.

Confirmed moving onto Nene Valley Railway tonight, NVR Reps currently waiting on Peterborough station to join 60103.

“We are very sorry to have to advise you that on our trip with The Cathedrals Express this lunchtime the Flying Scotsman developed a fault with one of its driving wheels (technically known as a hotbox) which unfortunately means the locomotive is a failure and this evening’s Cathedrals Express to Norwich will be diesel hauled.”

 

Seems 60103 will be staying on NVR until sometime early next week.
