"This week the share offer surpassed 1 million shares! This is a crucial milestone on the way to the target of 2.5 million by the end of October 2017. Grateful thanks are due to all those that have already purchased. Now, the impetus is to push on and encourage further share purchases of family, friends and other contacts as we seek to increase shares sold onwards from the first million"

"Full share offer information can be found at www.svr.co.uk/shareoffer or by calling 01562 757900. Alternatively, those wishing to donate to the Bridgnorth Development Fund without purchasing shares can do so via the Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust, which may be able to apply for a further 25 per cent Gift Aid on donations from taxpayers. Go to www.svrtrust.org.uk to download a Bridgnorth donation form."

Just a brief comment to express thanks for the fact that it is now possible to send email enquiries via the SVR site. Given that I complained about the lack of such a facility last year, I should really have made this comment earlier. But yes, noticed and appreciated. Thank you.

According to the new edition of SVR News, it's also now possible to join or to renew membership through the website too, which sounds to me like a very useful feature.

With the concrete base for the Bridgnorth refreshment room now complete, a brick laying ceremony was held at Bridgnorth today. There is a good report on BBC Midlands Today, currently available on the BBC iplayer.

There seem to have been three lineside fires this week so far.

I know of at least two - one on Friday and one on Monday, both close to Northwood crossing.

It has been a dry few weeks. This April was one of the driest on record and not many places have had much so far this month either.
So tbf lineside fires aren't surprising.

There were clear signs of lineside fires having happened on the GCR when I visited last weekend. Unless this change rapidly this could be the story of the year.

Dry spring - but this is England and no doubt it'll be raining soon.

"The driest October to March since 1995-96 has been followed by less than half the average rainfall for April." Today's forecast thundery showers produced 10 seconds of rain in Worcester. Severn Trent will probably be praying for drizzle until September.

Dry autumn and winter as well - according to the Met Office, the UK rainfall in Sep - Nov 2016 was 74% of the 1981 - 2010 average; Dec - Feb was 76%; and 80% for March - April. So that's a good six months at least well below average rainfall, right at the time when there is lots of dead vegetation. (Obviously regional variation applies - but FWIW, it's been pretty dry in Sussex as well....)

I'm in Severn Stoke tomorrow to discuss flooding and its aftermath - and I'm going prepared for rain

Our total has now passed the £2 million mark and continues to rise fast but timing is running out. We still have over 400,000 shares available to purchase at a price of £1 each before the Share Offer must close on 31st October 2017.

Thankyou Patrick, I may add to my existing share holding, however (as I don't have the information to hand) are you able to inform folks as to what the benefits of owning shares are?
