Precisely the reason I booked a ticket on the Christmas White Rose trip: although I took several trips behind 60009 on the NVR t'other week, I really wanted a main line ride before she retires - so hang the expense, big grins all round.

Same for me. Hauled by an A4 and a Duchess on the same day. That takes some beating.

I'll raise you a Duchess an A4 and a Jubilee, or going back a 'few' more years, a Duchess, 2 x A4s and the Waverley route.

I'll see your Duchess and raise you an LNWR Precedent, 9F, B1, Black 5 and an A3 all in one day. ;)

I am very wary of posting my own photographic efforts as they don't even begin to bear comparison with those I see upon here, but at the risk of getting shot to bits... here's 60009 some five years ago.

That was from 5 years ago? I think it just proves I don't just have a crush on 60009, I absolutely love it!

I appreciate the effort that must go into presenting a locomotive in ex-Works condition all of the time, as is a necessary part of expectations on the British Pullman with Clan Line. However the characteristic that draws me to UoSA time and time again, apart from the fact that it is an A4, is the manner in which it always seems to be presented simply as a clean working example of its class. Nothing showy, just businesslike. Both those images in #266 and #267 capture that so well.

It was indeed: 8/12/12, working The Lindum Fayre to Lincoln. Photo taken between and Deeping St. Nicholas and Spalding.

I don't know where you get the idea that your picture doesn't compare with others on here. Nothing wrong with that, the only thing I would have done is to crop out the gate that has intruded on the left

Nice one John, at least you got the sun.
Where I was the whole scene was bathed in sunlight, then 5 minutes before No.9 arrived the sun was a obscured by a large black cloud with my name on it managing to re-emerge about 15 seconds after No. 9 had passed!

Well, the bar is set extraordinarily high on here, I just look at my photos and think they bear no comparison. At your suggestion I've cropped the level crossing side gate out. :)
