    There's a photo of No 2 as an inspection engine, then named Little John (S&W locos were for many years named after Robin Hood characters), in Parr's "Severn and Wye Railway". It looked a little bit like the Festiniog Railway's "flying bench"!

    Drummond locos generally did have that "right proportions" look (both D and P Drummond). Their 4-4-0 and 0-6-0 designs are pretty much the epitome of their types (although the later, big boiler ones got a bit brutish). Their tank locos were all handsome, and generally good engines too.

    Those little C14's were lovely little locos. Pity no-one bagged one for preservation. It's not as if one would've taken up a lot of space!

    The 4-2-2-0 'double singles' of Mr Drummond (D) looked rather fine IMO, almost as though he took a leaf from Mr Webb's book of interesting notions and used them to presage the ideas of Mr Thompson by a good few decades into the bargain. Pity their performance evidently failed to match their looks! This image (evidently from the Hawkesworth Collection) is credited to Wikipedia:
