Very much so, although I think the good people who look after the WSR stations could be forgiven for wanting to add a little 'theatre' in the form of platform props. :)

Not to this extent though! Taken a couple of years ago at a gala. No thought at all, totally ignored the guard on one train shouting for them to be moved back. 3 times the S&D safety officer removed these, each time they reappeared ... thankfully the chap responsible is now a TTI ... If too much extraneous hazards I would be tempted to load them in my van and leave them at the next station, off the platform.

I'm not sure what (or whom) he's talking about. It all looks safe enough to me.

Why on earth is an ex-GWR station painted in BR Southern Region green and cream? (I'm asking for a friend.)

Fair point, it’s the home of the S&D Railway Trust so as they have ‘adopted’ the station it’s been painted into S&D (Southern) colours to suit their displays, museum and stock. My main experience of it is passing through on the footplate so I see it often, it’s always very neat and tidy, grass cut nicely and always presented very well as indeed are most of the stations on the line who each have their own groups to look after them.

Indeed it is, but in our age of universal paranoia, am I the only one imagining sirens, flashing lights, armed police, a day's lost revenue and a controlled explosion?

Take a closer look. Kilmersdon is involved shunting operations on the line the rubber neckers are standing next to. They should be nowhere near there and have been warned repeatedly. They should have been removed from the station and any tickets confiscated.

Mentos and Diet Coke? ... or does the WSR have a large secret stash of detonators? :D
