Group now renamed to Railway Preservation Group Ltd and is apparently confident that they can move the sleeper to a new railway, remove the asbestos and restore it internally along with an external repaint, all for £15k

They are also looking at buying an operational loco with 3 years ticket remaining. No target for this is given.

It is qood to hear someone is taking an interest in it and from a quick search I see they have a website http://railway-preservation.org.uk/main.php?page=home
I walk past it every week and it is not actually in that bad a condition, although the interior is not good. I wish them well. The SCR I understand has commissioned a report on any asbestos in it so they will at least know what the situation is.

    Overpriced, that's what!

However, I wonder if the chassis might provide some inspiration for Alf Roberts, easier than re-gauged Irish DMUs anyway...

The solid tyred chassis looks considerably more interesting than the carriage body. Presumably a former bus or lorry chassis that the coach was put on when purchased.
Think they are being a bit optimistic at that price though......

Anyone wanting a Warflat, a Warwell or a couple of BR Ferry Vans?

These are understood to be on an isolated section of track at a barracks in Grantham, with good access for road vehicles. The current bids for the Ferry Vans appear to be £1 each, plus VAT, but you will need to move quickly as the auction closes at 10:00 GMT on Wednesday 6 December....

Would the Ferry Vans be of any use (maybe with a bit of length adjustment) as underframes for grounded bodies? That is, assuming no-one wants to preserve them as they are.

The Warwell seems to be quite good. A shame; I would make a bid for it but can't guarantee a home for it.

In my experience (having purchased wagons from both sources), wagons which have been in the hands of the army tend to be in better shape than those which come from industry. The wagons at Grantham look to be no exception to this.

Must be at Prince William of Gloucester Barracks outside the town, ex-RAF Spitalgate. The site isn't rail connected.

That is correct. Unfortunately lack of space means that I will not be bidding on this occasion.

Science Museum Group have three wagons and an APT Power Car for disposal.
I believe their policy is priority to national and accredited museums.
(Last two pages of this document.)

The GPV looks particularly nice condition.

The APT power car is/was the one which formed the collection at Coventry.

Hopefully the Southern Railway related vehicles will go to an appropriate railway such as the Mid-Hants or Bluebell which have wagon groups able to maintain them.
The APT power car will probably end up at the Trawsfynydd & Blaenau Festiniog line.

Not enough seating capacity, what with the hordes of visitors flocking to their premier line... o_O

As the three wagons are on loan to the Yeovil railway centre, I hope they are given these wagons and I think they already have 2 ex NRM wagons in their collection.
