Not really. Unless you speak for a group of people with their agreement using we is wrong and confusing. How is it that you feel you speak for the railway as a whole? In any case you have ignored all the other points made. Do you have any answers for them? AFAIK nobody else has.

The SVR has been hosting the Northern Bell for some months now and I have not heard many negative comments even when we have a 68 on the stops at Kidder

  4. Quite agree. Because 'heritage railways' should necessarily not limit their offering to a particular epoch but, if they wish, also embrace an ongoing 'heritage' too.

How bizarre!:(:(:( I had no idea that treacle mining was so common. There is even a Wikipedia entry on the topic.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treacle_mining

When I was at primary school in the early fifties the Mudford Treacle mine was a synonym for a mythical place. When I used it in my earlier post I had no idea the concept was as widespread. Thanks Robin for enlightening me. Perhaps I should have said as unlikely as unicorn droppings being found in your back garden. :D:D:D

Was anyone upset by the stone trains (the ones to Minehead)?

    Best of the WSR.

Those of you able to catch the BL web cam for the next 50 minutes will see an excellent sight, perhaps never to be repeated, the 2 S&D 2-8-0's together.

But the Northern Belle never leaves Kidderminster station limits (apart from one excursion down the line that I can recall); that's a bit different to a regular service along a preserved line.

Due to a serious child infestation I am no longer as active in many things as I was, however in my younger days I spent much time sailing The Bristol Channel aboard Waverley & Balmoral (The Rust Bucket Steam Navigation Company & its Part in my Downfall........) I have always been of the opinion that rebuilding Minehead Pier - which was I believe accessible at most states of the tide would be a marvellous thing, both in offering a destination other than Ilfracombe and of course a much shorter trip than the haul from Clevedon or Penarth to Ilfracombe

Why does Robins garden need an Audit? To check the bill from the builders for the Croquet lawn?

Whilst you are posting some great photos, I haven’t seen any from you about the engineering works on the line during the last month or so, have you been away. You are normally better at keeping all the great work people are doing on the line in focus for everybody ?

No, that’s an ‘adit’. A horizontal entry to a mine.

Quite enough going on underground at Station House, thank you.

Missed it, but for anyone that saw them, can they confirm or deny the alleged phenomenon that, when two locos of the same class double head, their connecting rods become synchronised?

Dunno, they were side by side! Looked excellent though, thanks for the heads up.

Prompted by this though I've had the webcams up all evening. It's superb that most of them work in the dark as well, but it looks like things haven't quite gone to plan tonight...
