I used the WSR online shop on Tuesday evening to purhase a Beanie , to replace a Brockenbahn Beanie I had lost earlier in the day. It arrived today, together with a compliment slip with the message , " Many Thanks for your order, The Team at the Buffer Stop Shop , Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Note : I looked at a number Preserved Railway websites for online shops and of those that had them, the WSR one was one of the best ones. and one of the few that had what I wanted.

Paul that's really good feedback thanks. I was in there last Tuesday and had a great chat with the two ladies who were really keen and motivated. I even managed to complete my Christmas shopping there. I'll make sure they know.

Well done to the PLC for the extensive Board notes. The WSRA need to match the detail in thier Board communications.

I think if you consider where they have come from, the WSRA have improved significantly. I am sure that there is much being discussed which understandably, will not be put in the public domain at the current time.

Exactly! The OP is being unreasonable. Much of what any company board discusses has, quite rightly, to remain confidential. Time for him to be grateful that both organisations have improved their communications with the public, members, shareholders and volunteers. Whilst there is always room for improvement we all have a lot to be thankful about compared with two years ago.

Thank you for the vote of confidence.
I'll remind all WSRA members reading this that they are welcome to ask questions of detail about anything in WSRA minutes of any trustee and we will always provide the most comprehensive answer that we can. Any such question should, of course, be directed by a member to which ever trustee you choose or can be sent to the office marked "for the attention of...".
Of course much more comprehensive information about the whole railway is made available to members via the Journal. (Yes that is a hint to join us) - Merry Christmas.

Perhaps the OP will say if (s)he is a WSRA member or WSR PLC Shareholder.:D

  12. Hmmmm. I wholeheartedly applaud the release of the recent document from the Plc Board for public viewing and I hope this is continued in the same format. I think previous comms of this type have appeared in the Online monthly newsletter only. I have also just checked the WSRA website and note the Minutes are available for viewing from 2015 to date and the level of detail is comparable. In both cases, we should be mighty grateful that we now get to read this stuff, when once our interest in reading about Board activities was ignored. And with the PDG about to resume next month we'll get to read about those discussions too in due course. Soon someone will complain about information overload...

Larry has previously informed us that he is not a WSRA member. I cannot recall his shareholder status.

Good news that common sense has actually been used, its a shame this wasn't handled in the right way to begin with and started as a rumour on here of all places, before it was confirmed that there was to be a review, the comunication through out the whole process has been shocking,I understand some not myself made abusive phone calls to the railway, I tried to speak with the railway to find out what was happening on 5 occasions by either email or phone and got fobbed off, same as in the past trying to get infomation or offering ideas to make comunication better, and I was and always have been polite when speaking with them, but because of how it was handled if they think I for one are gonna come running back they have another thing coming.
Small thing to you or not and i know its a privalidge but I felt like after 20 years of supporting the railway I was stabbed in the back.

Its a shame I've been made to feel that way, but staying away not even taking notice of whats been going on is the only way to handle it,
Its ment missing out on the 7Fs, 1010 and hopefully next year 7018.
In the past that would have felt like a big loss, now I just have to find other ways of getting a hydraulic fix.

thats all I have to say on the matter.

You have to love local papers.

(Bear with me folks, this really IS about the WSR.)

I love British local papers (such as still exist) and the West Somerset Free Press is one such. Take this week’s edition, which makes front page news of a devastating fire on Minehead’s North Hill:

    5BF0602F-707D-42BE-BEC2-ADF45013B98E.jpeg

But you have read the detail to learn that this fire consumed... a complete village? No. .... 50 houses? No. ..... a WHOLE 50 ... square metres. Yep. 30 feet by fifteen. One small garden’s worth.

‘Small earthquake in Peru. Not many dead.’

In the same edition, the Venerable Bede, otherwise known as Michael Burke of Minehead, has a letter published:

    A7EE3001-D3E8-4C79-816E-3C02C15B6268.jpeg

I am so grateful that an outlet is available for such literary talents...

This all very mysterious, and I would suggest, unintelligible to all but a coterie of WSR "insiders".

What I would like to know as a humble ordinary WSRA member living a long way from Somerset and hoping to ride on the 29th December, is will all the trains be steam-hauled as advertised?

    Thanks.
