I seem to remember that either Rob Adamson or Andy Wilcock originally worked at Bury for Ian Riley, or is my memory confusing them with someone else?

Interesting... I wonder how long it will take for somebody to go up in arms in protest about the lack of 'authenticity' in this, even though very few people would be able to tell the difference on appearance alone and it will make the locomotive work better!

A very long time, I would think. Not only do many LMS locos have better injectors than originally fitted, but only those used almost always on the main line have an exhaust injector. Add in rocking grates and hopper ashpans, speedometers, front cwa equipment and a variety of other preservation fittings and there are a number of subtle detail differences.

Authenticity always will - and when safer operation is concerned definitely must - take second place to practical considerations on locomotives in service. But once lost it is gone for ever, which is my beef with the "steam everything" lobby.

Just wondered if there's any more news yet on the Patriot's progress? It seems ages since I last looked through the pages of "The Warrior", a very enjoyable read it always is too!

Hi Richard. There are a few images on the Facebook page of the boiler work. Kev will be writing an update soon as the next Warrior is about to be put together. Sending out at the end of Feb I think. We have the board meeting this coming Saturday. Obviously we will be discussing the crest, build of the boiler and build at llan among a lot of other things.

But it's mainly a case of more progress on each area.

    Kind regards Gavin

Work is progressing nicely down at the West shed. Rob and Andy are working on the outer box and you can really start to see the shape of the box starting to come together! If you can support the build at all please visit http://www.lms-patriot.org.uk/raising-the-pressure . Every donation counts and we really appreciate it. Cheers Gavin

When you live outside the UK and support this project, it might be some (very) few times you are thinking "should I use my money on this"? But then ,when I see pictures like those above I dont`t regret a second!:)

    kind regards

    Knut

Nicely done, I like that. Though what is that fox man doing, hanging out like that from a speeding train?! Think of the sheer number of health and safety rules he's braking right there! :p
