Had a good day yesterday blowing away the cobwebs - definitely a day of two halves weather wise!

Though I heard today they had not only the white stuff, but also a fallen tree around Chawton woods that added to the day....

Any way a few pic's from yesterday.

    Steamy things.

Thanks to NP I went to see 925(+ 76017)
    Yesterday and it was enjoyable!
The tree meant a long delay BUT so much help from MHR staff especially at Medstead where the assistance was beyond the call of duty!!!
Snow/ good company and a considerable amount of FUN
Reenactors were v active— jokes galore
    40s music .....
    And 925!!!

I see the home leave event made it on to the local BBC news this morning.

Yes, I met a few people in Alresford today who wanted to go, inspired by the piece this morning. I had do tell them that the event was over....

Had a rather nice day out on the MHR yesterday despite the railway's operational difficulties: the overnight storms included a thunderstorm over Alton which had knocked out some of the signalling circuits. Pilotman working was in operation between Medstead and Alton, and all the points at Alton had to have their machines hand-cranked over, and then be clipped. Nevertheless, the second time we reached Alton the crew seemed to have got into a routine, because running round and departing was completed in three minutes under the normal booked time.

I visited Thursday and had an excellent trouble free day apart from the dodgy road from the North through the Candovers which was really hazardous with snow and ice first thing. Both Locos seemed to be in good form and the duty staff seemed very enthusiastic as always. I try to make a visit to the Mid-Hants part of my Xmas routine every year even though its 120 miles from home. Thank you to all.

There certainly is. Not had a chance to read it yet but having had a quick flick, it would seem to be very complimentary and quite rightly so!

RN5597.jpg RN5595.jpg Two from me, taken on Saturday, the last Saturday working until the Gala. I've got five Saturday's now with no trains passing me. The only reason to stop working now is for the odd cup of tea.

A few shots from the last running day of the 2017 season.
Standard 4 76017 and Crompton 33 202 handling the 2 train service between them.
There was a good number of passengers enjoying the last running day for 5 weeks, and were treated to the sun making an appearance from early afternoon onwards.

    Roll on the 2018 season.

I know with Wednesday Ropley blog has a dedicated reader, Mrs Trellis of Wales, but people are actually following what the intrepid members of the wagon group get up to?.............. :Jawdrop:

I suspect it may have slipped under the radar in the chaos that is Christmas........

Tried through various platforms Dave... Emails have bounced, been blocked from Insta and Twitter, all I'd like is a face to face conversation or even a phone call, rather than burying his/her/their head in the sand. It's something that can be worked out.

Somebody somewhere knows who they are, Matt..........

As you say, a polite 'chat' would resolve everything, I find their reaction childish.

But, we digress from all matters MHR!

PM me as you were going to do months ago.
