I've been banging on to the management at the MHR about painting Wadebridge Express Passenger blue! But I think that it will probably be Malachite as 34081 made a great impression when it visited Ropley in July.

The line could always renumber 34105 and paint it in Malachite for the first few years .

What about BR Apple-green livery. I’m led to believe some light Pacific’s were painted in BR Apple green. I don’t think Apple green has ever been applied to a preserved light Pacific yet.

You must be privy to some discussions I am not. 34081 certainly made an impression during its visit. 34007 is a little way off requiring a permanent new coat of paint, so perhaps livery choice is not an urgent topic, and in the meantime I would like to see what a version of Stroudley's improved green might look like on the loco.

    Maybe not.......

I'm led to believe that Malachite is the preferred livery of the 34007 Soc when she comes back into traffic..........

Soooo....... if 34007 came out in Malachite, 34105 came out in Express Blue & 35005 in Middle Chrome.......... & all facing London...... just imagine the fun that could be had with that lot!:):):)

Yeah, right, in my dreams...... :(

But, seeing as we're in the 'liveries we'd like to see' mode - how about LNWR lined black, as they are mixed traffic loco's - I reckon a Spam can in that would look the dogs danglies! :)

I believe some time during 1999 - when it was at Barrow Hill.
    Don't have to/from dates I'm afraid.

As mixed traffic locos, should they not be in black?..........................................

Most of the first batch of MN's were so finished .... "for the duration", though whether you'd call the jollop applied during WWII "paint" (to judge by several references to it having the properties of tar) is a moot point.

Anyone heard what’s happening to 35025 these days. Looking at their web site it hasn’t been updated for sometime.

    Cheers

34053 Sir Keith Park is back in Herston works, and as previously recorded the driver's side lower slide bar shows traces of the words "SOLD MR WOODHAM". We'd previously assumed that this had been painted by Woodham's when they sold it on for preservation, however it's been suggested that this was painted by BR when the loco was sold to Mr Woodham.

Can anyone come up with examples where BR painted the name of the buyer on locos going to scrap, or did Woodham's paint such text on other locos?

Can't help with any photos, but it would seem to make sense that the seller would be far more likely to label a loco after it was sold (but before it was moved), than a buyer would be to label it once it reached their yard. Similarly, when locos were sold by Woodhams, most photos I've seen show the name of the railway / group it was being sold on to.

So this feels to me more like a marking made by BR rather than by Woodhams.

    Tom
