No, just suspend a metal spike from low bridges, at driving cab height, as a preventive measure.

Good job I suppose that bus & lorry driving are not common occupations for ex public schoolboys, otherwise it would make the situation mch worse.........................

It may be only an urban myth, but I've heard that the main reason for fitting roofs to the cabs of the very earliest steam locomotives was not for protection from the weather, but because small boys would stand on bridges and try to drop bricks down the chimneys of passing trains and when they missed the bricks would sometimes hit the crew.

When working in a prison one of the first things I was told was ‘don’t walk under the windows’ although they helpfully added ‘although really that is only true for YOI you should be fine here’. Needless to say I made sure I was well away from any windows just to be on the safe side.

So after all that have we concluded that human beings have generally acted as such throughout their history? Yes? Good. Now I look forward to this tedious conversation never again appearing on this forum, and not having to wade through pages and pages of discussions and opinions on whether the death penalty prevents re-offending or not, every single time something like this happens. PHEW.

I’d have thought the answer to that conundrum was abundantly clear, unless you’re a cat.
