New members encouraged - we're currently on 50 in just three days, but a number nearer 100 is perhaps a first goal in order to have a realistic chance of moving forward.

No need to be based in Ireland, though an interest in Irish NG is an advantage!!

 

Enquiry: Do any drawings survive? I ask as the original loco was built by Brush (as successor to Hughes) and when the folks at Corris checked with them, at the start of the Falcon (which then became Hughes) new build project, investigations revealed there were no drawings in existence for that design (a bit of a Hughes favourite, with very similar looking locos built in at least 3'-6" and std gauges).

While we're on the subject of C&MLR locos, does anyone have any idea why the 1919 Hunslet built 4-4-0t (the second C&M No.4) lasted under 10 years? I don't 'buy' the theory that it had excessive axle load, being no heavier than any earlier C&M loco according to Inchicore records. It's always astounded me that the GSR couldn't find a use for a reasonably modern loco elsewhere.

 

that's what the feasibility study is going to determine amongst other things. Perhaps the title needs editing, Felix ,to emphasise the actual loco is not decided ?

 

I too was looking for stuff from Brush but it seems most of their old stuff was binned. Some was however saved by George Toms in a last-minute scramble - he worked there at the time - and he directed me to Leicestershire Museums Service who had some photographic images.
