The gents cubicles were roofed, the urinals were not, therefore both sexes are equal. The choice of the roofed cubicle or the open urinal in inclement weather is down to the individual

I see the crowdfunding initiative for the wagon tarpaulins is only £90 short of its target:

    www.wsr.org.uk. Look on news items.

It would be a great boost for the WSR wagon team to have this a done deal by the end of the evening. That’s only 9 of you donating £10...

or build a separate block in the car park as at Toddington.

If loos are smelly, there must be a reason and this could be sorted surely even in a heritage loo.

    Choice? Simple.
If I and my partner were faced with what we perceive as inadequate toilet facilities we would simply adjourn to the nearest pub and use their facilities. A loss to the the Heritage Railway as we would end up eating and drinking at the pub rather than spend money at the cafe/restaurant on the railway. This will be my last post on the subject in an effort to stop the thread being ‘bogged down’ by comments about ‘toiletgate’.

    [QUOTE
It could get a bit 'fragrant' in there let's just say that! It was sealed off for a few years (a previous GM thought it was a bit 'basic') but after a feature in BBC 4's 'The Golden Age of Steam Railways' there was a bit of a 'let's return it to use' there's modern hand sanitiser in there and There's a tap you use to rinse it out but it's a very useful thing to have, especially at galas when your waiting for trains to cross, if your male your legs don't have to cross!

For information, WSRA board meetings are approximately every 6 weeks during 2018. I should also mention that WSRA trustees are in almost daily communication by e-mail and telephone, indeed it's one of my first task every morning to respond to Association and WSR related e-mails (unless I'm on an early turn!).

  13. We are fortunate to have excellent minute secretaries for the various board and other meetings. These folks do a fab job and invariably issue summaries very quickly afterwards. The next meeting of the Partnership Development Group is, I believe, today.

I had been going to suggest that "Was this as simple as that there were no drawings that showed what in the present building was original & when what was an
    alteration?"

But it does need someone to look at everything with understanding. And we cannot rely on the local planning authority as a reliable backstop.
This is a general problem as brought up here on the Broadway thread. Which does give hope: it was realised what was going awry there
and it was corrected and got right to valuable effect. It is much to the credit of the GWSR but it was all lined up for the effect of the space
between the roof and the building to be lost just as the Cathedral nave effect of Liverpool street station was lost in the 1980s.

Mostly corrected. You do have a ‘strategic reserve’ of twice as many lamp posts along the platforms as the GWR would have installed..

    But a great achievement overall.

My ticket for opening day to Broadway booked!

I was pleased to read the news on http://www.wsr.org.uk/news.htm#1351 that Ryan Pope has been promoted to Engineering Foreman at WSRA Restorations. As a member of the WSRA I am proud that a former WSRA Apprentice has shown what an asset to our Railway he has become. Congratulations Ryan.

Many Thanks Yorkshire man. The total is now at £380. I am not sure how this crowd funding works but do know some are all or nothing so if you do not make your target you find all the donations are returned. There are charges for collecting the money etc so I think it is safe to assume we do need to hit the £400. I will do a final measure up of the wagons tomorrow and then hope to go to the tarpaulin company and place the order.
Please accept my sincerest thanks to all of you who have donated, you have done terrifically. If you have not donated but would like to please make your donation now and we can pass the £400 and the new tarpaulins will be on their way.
This has been a collaborative effort by the WSRA, the WSR Mechanical Engineering Department, the volunteers, Team B, and last but by no means YOU. A great example of how the Heritage movement can move positively forward.
    Thank You All
