Works for me too. A good overall response but the sense of frustration felt by the railway is clearly beginning to permeate through

I do hope they get a good rate for their legal advice. Especially with QCs now involved

A new response from ENPA Historic Buildings Office here. Broadly positive.

I wonder if there will be any further neighbour responses allowed?

A rather helpful and positive response I thought - thanks for the link.

Although you do start to wonder what the deadline is actually for?! :)

I notice that he mentions that the plans for the construction of the new house and associated parking at Parracombe have now been omitted addressing his concerns.
I assume this is an amendment to the current plans on the planning portal

This is odd, as the application for the houses, complete with amendments dated 8/1/18, still shows as live:
    http://www.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk/planning/planning-searches/detailed-results?appNo=62/50/16/005&dotAppNo=62.50.16.005&appAddress=The+Halt,+Parracombe,+Barnstaple,+Devon

Notwithstanding, a good response from Historic Buildings. I do agree about deadlines too- they seem to have little or no relevance to the process.

I read it mean that the houses had been deleted from the planning application for the line, but may be in a separate application. Positive stuff from the Historic Buildings officer.

Railway applications not on the February ENPA agenda (as previously reported). However, the alterations at Fairview are on the agenda (for those who might be interested).

Thanks for that. Interesting to see in detail what the fuss was about.

Interesting news in the latest L&B Trust newsletter regarding trackbed acquisition between Woody Bay and Lynton (for the first time). Nothing on the website yet (I'm not sure if the exchange has been completed), but I expect the map will be updated soon.

Getting back to Lynton would be a huge achievement, especially considering the crossing of the A39 at Woody Bay and Dean Steep.

What length of trackbed are we talking about?

It's not actually in the newsletter but the magazine page 4 & 5, with a map.

Could going north from Woody Bay be an alternative plan should things not work out in Paracombe, or is there another plan?

The two aren't mutually exclusive, The L&B often purchases former trackbed as and when it becomes available, and has done since the 1970s. The current operation is concentrating on Phase 2a, but the new section will eventually be required for Phase 2b as the line makes its way back to Lynton. Phase 3 will be south from Whistlandpound...

I guess my question is more focused on what happens if Paracombe just isn't going to happen

Well, as noted earlier.... If the ENPA grant planning permission, and the TWAO is awarded with CP powers, then there's no problem. Problems only arise if any of these steps don't happen. There are some Plan Bs, I'm sure, but perhaps best not to speculate as to what they might be and unwittingly help those opposed to the railway?
