I might (be sorely tempted to) go for a first appearance in red oxide primer, maybe with a hint of lining (flat shop grey?) ..... for no better reason than to drive the livery police apopleptic!! :D

Thought this might interest you all.
These are the front bogie wheel castings of 72010 during heat treatment process at Boro' Foundry. More excellent progress being made, but there is much still to do, as the wheels sets need tyres and axles etc to make up full wheel sets, not to mention the need for trailing truck wheels and of course the main driving wheels.
If you can help us by making a donation towards any of these parts please visit our website donations page https://www.theclanproject.org/donate-online?view=donation&campaign_id=5 In the meanwhile, enjoy the look of the hot metal in the photograph.

By heck, can almost feel that heat like a hot wheel bearing!
Any chance of a 'shopping list' for donations rather than dropping coins in a bucket?

The engineering team are working on a comprehensive list of bogie components, and once we have prices for them a full list will be put out for sponsorship. All required drawings for bogie parts are available. Some parts will be large, such as the bogie centre casting, others not so large such as the control springs. Some other components are already in stock, but require machining, such as the bogie side plates, the forged cross stays and the forged bearing pads. Once we have estimates for machining these, sponsorship for the machining operations will also be an option. More information once it becomes available.

You have discovered the new website, which will go live shortly. This will replace the current website in the near future, and will use the current website address of https://www.theclanproject.org/ rather than the address quoted.
Hope this clears up the situation.

If it creates a better tender for mainline use with extra water or coal capacity then I think it makes perfect sense. If it was up to me 5551 would have a Fowler high sided tender.

The tender is still at the design stage and nothing is decided yet. In April, we had an engineering committee meeting to discuss various aspects of the design, including the tender. The consensus view was that we needed to maximise water capacity as this would determine range on the main line. We discussed whether we should retain the inset bunker design of the original Clans. This would be of great assistance when running on heritage lines for a rear view. If we went for a BR1G design, this would give the inset bunker and 5,000 gallons of water. This would be 750 gallons more than the original BR1 tender fitted to the Clans. We've also got to think about all of the electronics that are going to be needed for main line running - our thoughts are that this should go in the tender.

Away from the tender debate, here is a shot of four of the frame keeps at CTL seal. More parts ready for assembly.

Me too Gav, shame I was not allowed to post in a democratic manner by one of the officers of the Patriot society on the Facebook Site, who took my post down and ended our brief conversation mid sentence after I sited the fact that I was under the impression there was to be a vote on the tender, as advised by yourself on NP.

As other locomotives ( Tornado, British India line, etc) have done I think a fairly flexible approach to tender build can be made.
I Have always found the inset tenders pleasing to the eye but even with a smaller ( say 6 tonnes) coal space water capacity is going to be about 5,200 Gallons tops. At the other end of the spectrum starting with a BR1F, re-outlined and with a smaller coal space you should still be able to get 5600 gallons should give the relatively economic Clan 180+miles worth of water, 360 miles worth of coal ? Potentially London to York non stop with a 'Class 6' train.
