Has an EGM been called then? Don't think anyone's mentioned it here, as you say, you need a plan as to what to do afterwards presuming the aim is to remove directors before you go down that road.

I can categorically confirm that I sold the whistle to Tim for the princely sum of £55.00, I had two whistles the other was sold to a cafe in Matlock Bath. The proceeds from both sales were invested in buying consumables for the railway - drill bits, cement etc. We did test the whistles using compressed air

Sadly I cannot remember the year - late 1980's early 1990's.

Read a couple of days ago on the wnxx forum that the peak rail action group are trying to remove the current management & start from scratch.

    Any updates on their progress?

There's a separate thread for all that sort of stuff here.

Indeed, sounds like the usual fanfare of diversionary tactics, misanswering questions and doublespeak. Nothing new, guess it was naive of me to think that the board would be a bit on their toes what with the movement for change among members/shareholders aquiring some structure and a face in the form of a website. I also expected the plans for this 'health hub' in buxton to be discussed and how this will impede on peak rails room for constructive freedom in buxton if they ever wanted to do anything with their land again. Oh well, there's a public consultation this week for said health hub and I am imagining similar tactics and misinformation employed by the yes men in order to minimise the impact of criticism against the red herring on the prime central site in the town. Gah there I go again being all cynical, can you tell I'm not all for it? ;)

Well, they are helping to keep lawyers in business - a noble cause.

There should be a principle of proportionality. All too often, lawyers' fees are an obscene multiple of the amount at stake.

Remember the libel case, concerning some unwise comments by someone involved with 6024, which swallowed up about £500K; it rather put me off contributing to preservation, to think that my money could go towards lining a lawyer's pockets.

You mustn't get the PRA and PLC AGMs mixed up, the PRA is primarily concerned with membership matters and that's what was mostly discussed whatever some may want you to think.

Funnily enough there is a principle of proportionality in lawyers costs, relatively newly introduced, and the specialist costs lawyers are busy arguing what it means and when it applies. The legal costs of arguing legal costs are sometimes formidable in themselves.....

Yes, I've seen lawyers' firms advertising themselves as costs specialists! The trouble with the system is that you dare not argue about anything for fear of bumping up legal costs if it goes against you. The party with the deepest pockets can take risks that the other party can't.

There must be a better way!

I've heard mumblings on the winds of a new acquisition that may appear at Darley dale in the near future, if all is true then the briddon blog may have some surprises to reveal tomorrow, was rather pensive when I heard, as it is an item that will be far from home, but a place to stay is what this item needs, as its future has been juggled around between various parties as of late, and some stability to the situation will certainly be heartening. That is, if this isn't all a load of claptrap and I need to lay off the ale, we'll see tomorrow, perhaps.

The letter from the Peak Railway Association LTd is astonishing.

At least a plc can't stop you from being a shareholder.

I can't - going to any 'Weekend Rails' page gives me an error message ("You are seeing this because of a security violation attempt") - and I get the exact same one with two different browsers on two different machines, so it's coming from the site, not my browser. Is anyone else seeing this, or is it just me?

Try it through Firefox and the suchlike

They're starting to deploy the typical dirty tricks that the folks over on the WRSA thread have seen before, ridiculous when some ego maniacs start thinking a volunteer based heritage railway is their little business empire and they can just throw people in/out as they see fit. This won't go turn out well for them.

I am not sure that I can stand another 450 page thread like the WSRA one.
