History seems to suggest that PELS tend to contract out the bulk of heavy repairs whilst undertakibg lighter work in support. I cite times spent at Rileys, Tyseley and PRCLT as foundation for this opinion.

Ah but you forget, the politics are all that matter to some, and they are willing to dredge into the past to drag up stuff that it probably irrelevant today.

I wonder what whoever it was meant when they said that. The PELS has no shareholders, it is a company limited by guarantee and owned collectively by the society membership. The Directors are elected by the membership at the AGM. So if ever there is something wrong with the management (and I have no idea whether there is) the wider membership have the power, some would say the responsibility, to deal with it - if they can be bothered with the politics.

But the cases are not strictly the same (unless you are a member of the 6201 group - if you are apologies) the comments on the facebook posts were from members of the 6201 group explicitly saying that they had not been told she was moving or why?

Alternatively are you just being cheeky! ;)

I read Ralphs post as being indiscriminate.

Not at all, just thought it worth highlighting the monumental arrogance of his original post in the context of the alleged Facebook remarks from Society membership.

So, Martin, are you saying the decision was made without informing the membership? does this not back up the points i made about previous problems with PEL ?

Not impressed with 5593 is an understatement it was truly awful, they appear to have used Woolworth's number 27 green, it was miles away from BR Locomotive Green, AND they failed to honour the deal to put it back in red when they had finished playing. The moral of the story is if you don't like 6201 in red, get one of your own in green. The red livery is in the society constitution.

    Bob

Is the constitution that you refer to the memorandum and articles of association? And is this also known as the incorporation document? As that's the only thing I can find on the companies House website? That mentions nothing to do with any livery.

Out of interest, are you a member? If the membership wants a distinctive livery of LMS Maroon, then it matters little if outsiders obsess with 'if it isn't BR, it's not right'!

I a saying one member has said on facebook on the Wst Shed page that they did not know . The story broke as I read it following a letter to the membership . Any society is not an exercise in total democracy. elected officials take decisions on what they think is best

@Gav106 to answer your question , no it isn't . Memorandum and Articles exist for every company and generally are generic documents . I have seen the society constitution and the clause albeit years ago and no I don't have a copy

And again you seem to be tarring people with the same brush for asking questions about a constitution. In the railway enthusiasts section you get all sorts of people who like to count rivets or collect numbers, my interest is in reading accounts and documents that may contain information that could help the project I'm involved in improve. While I have found little from the 6201 society of interest, you never know and for me it's always interesting.

And for the record I was one of the people who wrote up the argument in our recent membership vote to paint 5551 crimson, so I'm definitely not obsessed with BR liveries.

With regards to 6201 membership I'm afraid while I would love to be a member of the locomotive I won't give anything to it in its current set up. I like charity structures. And a fair few of my friends who are involved in 5551 have been members but they haven't ever received renewal notices for their membership, so it's not like anyone's chasing people for money

Oh well...she's at 10A now. Let's hope the next chapter in her history is one that put's fire in her belly and a feather from her safety valves.

Please do read the final sentence of my post more carefully, it is not a long sentence and it contains all the information which you seek, in order to answer your question.
