Looking fine storming through Harpenden. I'm told it took on Thameslink passengers at St Albans for those going to Luton or Bedford, thanks to a couple of cancellations.

Away from Kettering at 09.50 ,wicked noise climbing up the 1 in 125 .I photo'd it about 200yards from my first home ,sounded like a 9F with a 1000 tons of iron ore .Diesel just ticking over.

A good advert for mainline steam and RTC aplus the right thing to do in these weather conditions. Maybe one or two may decide to invest in a day out in the future!

Good so far and diesel hasn’t kicked in too often. Just leaving Alfreton couple of mins down.

Farewell, Ollie. My interest in main line steam was pretty much forged by this locomotive. Will probably go to the KWVR Gala for the last rites of its current ticket.

It might get a boiler cert extension for the GCR but will be overhauled again.

Ollie looked and sounded superb restarting from the pathing stop at Colton Junction in the wintery conditions. Also caught 70013 running around the support coach at the NRM ready for the run over to Keighley

Ref the photo of the roundhead in Yorkshire - is the shape of the smokebox door a trick of the light or was it when the regulator was fully opened that the smokebox vacuum set in with a vengeance?

Another shot of Ollie passing Brooksby/Rotherby, between Melton Mowbray and Syston Junction.

Just caught Ollie at York, stood streaked and steaming like a Post Race Horse.
How long was the trip ? the Tender was down to the lost ton I reckon.

Great trip yesterday although I think many didn't turn up thinking it wouldn't run. The run over Harringworth and up to Manton Junction was my favourite although the run through Oakham was a close second. The way the arches had blocked some the drifting snow and created a pattern on the fields was lovely and the section up to Manton was just so bleak and fairly deep with snow.
