Interestingly, when I googled David Grob to see whether he had moved to Taunton, I found a reference to his art gallery having moved from London to Geneva!

The first train on the re-opened railway departed from Woody Bay on 17th July 2004 hauled by a small Hunslet 0-4-0 diesel thingie named 'Exmoor Ranger'. It ran the full length of the line, which at that time was to just short of the large hole in the embankment where Bridge 67 now stands. The line was extended to Killington Lane in 2006. Both the loco and single coach are no longer available to the L&BR.

Aha yes but there's nothing to say you can't borrow them from Stratford Barn specially for the occasion. ;)

Again nothing to stop the railway hiring them back for such an occasion. But I digress, we're somewhat a long way from making up such plans as this aren't we?

Sounds like the first link worked pretty much perfectly then! :)

The second link seems to work on Chrome on my Pixel 2, but not on my desktop. It's just pictures of the interior really...

Off Topic, but just seen a very interesting feature on Countryfile about how the Exmoor Hill farmers have coped with the recent snows.
The young guy they featured must have been very close to Woody Bay, as the view from his farm towards the Bristol Channel was almost identical to the view from the station, he mentioned the road to Martinhoe (still swamped with snow), and there was a snowbound crossroads featured, with signposting towards Parracombe, Hunters Inn and Lynton.
They really do have to be a hardy bunch up there, don't they? it can be a merciless environment up there, and I take my hat off to them, and indeed you guys on the railway, too.

Good news on the planning permission. I have a question though about what happens next. The ENPA permission requires a start to be made within 5 years (but not until all land is owned and funding is in place) which sets an ambitious timeline which, nevertheless, can be visualised.
But the NDC bit was approved 2 years ago and requires a start within 3 years (i.e. 1 year from now); I know that you can ‘start’ a development by doing just a relatively small part of what is planned but does this mean some activity on the ground is likely within the next 12 months, and what might that be?
Meanwhile on the Q&A bit of the L&B website it suggests that obtaining a TWAO might take up to 2 years (from now, or was this written ages ago and therefore has much of the groundwork been done already?)
I think what I’m getting at here is does the NDC permission expire before there is any hope of getting a TWAO through and if so what happens then?

    Just curious really!

There has already been activity on the ground here. You may recall about a year ago, two of the Working Weekends involved a lot of boots on the ground in the cutting (more like a canal, really!) South of Blackmoor, this was comprehensively cleared. This counts.
I seem to remember that work was plannned to continue south of bridge 53 in order to improve the drainage in the cutting, but this had to be postponed for some reason (access, I think)
As for the TWAO, if its anything to go by, the RVR got their PP about a year ago, and are (AIUI) yet to submit their application.
Hope this helps answer your query.

Forgive my ignorance, having only recently come to this forum, but the recent planning application covers Parracombe Halt to Wistlandpound. Does that mean the planning permission already exists from Killington Lane to Parracombe bridge? If so, has anyone a link to it? Thanks.

    Planning Application
62/50/16/001 was for Land between Killington Lane and Blackmoor Gate, Parracombe, Barnstaple, Devon: Proposed re-instatement of railway line and ancillary development.

There was a previous application to the District Council for that part outside of the National Park between Blackmoor Gate and Whistlandpound.
