After the gala, what are the plans for the S160?

Given its obvious capabilities I'm assuming that it will take the first train of the day from BL when in service

Interesting, isn’t it. I’m travelling now. Could someone take the first pic and draw on the route of the Railway?

I've no idea if there are any special plans for the S160, so I don't see why it should not just go into the general pool of locos. The first train of the day from BL is always within the capabilities of a Manor, Hall or 7F. However, it will probably first choice for incoming charters as it is dual-braked.

I have no immediate plans to do so but I am researching the options. Note that I already financially support several charitable, and voluntary, organisations both on the WSR and elsewhere. Unfortunately circumstanes prevent me from a regular voluntary tole.

Thinking about it, not only is it an interesting exhibit from the WSR point of view but an interesting 'civil engineering' display - perhaps other lines might like to d the same, explaining why the railway builders took the route they did

Must say the tarpaulins/sheets are very nice!

If the railway is interested I have a copy of this map with the old hundreds coloured in if they want a few copies of it.

I went in one of those restaurants in the Denver (CO) area back in 1983. I was amazed what was displayed there, though after 35 years, the only thing I can definitely remember seeing was a nameplate from one of the pilot batch of Warships (D6xx), though can't remember which one.
Whilst indulging in some lineside photography in Palmer, Massachusetts, in 2004, the antique shop that was based in part of the old station had several BR station signs for sale, possibly ones that came from one of the Victoria Station operations. There was an Oakham running in board and totems from St Asaph (WR), Harpenden and a few other LM region stations. Can't remember how much they were, but not the sort of thing to bring back on an aeroplane.....

Doesn't go back as far as Robin's map but this is a wonderful site for playing with old maps compared to current ones - you can overlay old maps onto satellite images and fade up and down between the two - http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=14&lat=51.1697&lon=-3.3255&layers=1&b=1

This one is a more detailed map showing some old branches that no longer exist

    http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=51.1644&lon=-3.3624&layers=6&b=1

(Other maps are available via the drop down menus but be warned it can be addictive!

That was most interesting. I hadn't realised how long the old mineral line was.

  14. Drat! Webcam pages on wsr.org.uk not loading properly. It's been reported and hopefully will be sorted soon.

I've also had an issue with Webcams for the last 24 hours. Have any other Webcam subscribers been unable to get live feed from the cam at Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania?

Sorry, thread drift I know, but I've had no response from Webcam UK.

I've been chatting to someone in Dunster and he found it started working for him after changing the stream type.

Comparing notes all services seem to be 30 minutes late.
