Website updated on 25th Feb https://6201.co.uk/index.php/2018/02/25/progress-update-february-2018/ and it looks like they are still fully responsible for the fund raising for the engine overhaul and no third parties are involved in supplying the money for this to happen.

I dare say there's a bit more space available at Carnforth, so I hope that having 6201 stored there should cause minimal inconvenience to all the other work going on there, but it seems we're no further towards getting this loco back into working order. The fundraising so far has not been conspicuously successful and it looks after all as if nothing is changing in that respect. It would be so much better if the society would do a deal with the West Coast businesses, along the lines of "Fix her up and use her on your trains for N years".

    Quote from here:

“With no prospect of PRCLT being able to carry out any work on No. 6201 until at least July, the loco has been moved to Carnforth to be returned to main line operation,” 6201 Society chairman Clive Mojonnier told The RM. “The board decided this was in the best interests of the locomotive.”

A nice clear statement from the chairman, better late than never. It still leaves us to speculate about potential deals, but this (and RM's headline for the story) sounds very much like it will be CRRES putting her on the mainline (which I can only assume is in return for operation)

The statement is clear to the extent it confirms the move and that PELS remain determined to see 6201 operational again. Bit light on the terms of its latest residency and, lets face it, nobody gets owt for nowt, especially where 10A is concerned. One hopes the PELS stakeholders are better informed than RM.

Ten years with Tornado this year. A new P2 being built, a V4 with parts on the board, other exciting plans being funded and developed.

Dare I say - the quality of people determine the vision and if it becomes a reality.

Absolutely, but even people who are brilliant at some aspects wouldn't get far without others in the team to cover other aspects. The A1 team has an impressively wide range of expertise.

To be fair to clive, he does seem to have found a way to get her back into steam. Although Its unsure as to who is paying for the work. I'm guessing that West coast are doing it in lieu of steaming fees

    On the Society's page https://6201.co.uk/index.php/the-society/
    it says
"Q. Where is the locomotive based now?

    A. 6201 Princess Elizabeth is undergoing repair now at PRCLT’s West Shed facility at Butterley in Derbyshire."

If they can't even find the resource to update that, is it any wonder that they've had to do some sort of deal with West Coast? But they seem to be keeping quiet about what that deal may be.

I understand that steady progress is being made with 6201, but as is apparent, the speculation by some that she would be finished by the end of August was just that, speculation.

I agree and if she returns and proves to be a reliable performer there will be plenty of people waiting to appreciate her on trains and at the lineside. The ownership and operation of the loco has been the subject of much discussion in recent years, but I for one will be pleased to see her back!

Wouldn't it be awesome if the deal included a temporary re-paint into BR green? Ok, I know...just saying!

Not entering a "whinging and moaning about appearance" session on this one, it will simply be fabulous to see the loco back performing. Suspect it will be some while before the loco resumes contributing to its own coffers though, expect to see it on the Northern Belle in due course. That will be a spectacular offering.

Hahaha I know. Don't worry, the passion for BR liveries will evaporate as my generation go up the crem chimney. In the meantime it's rather nice for us to see things as they were when we were kids spotting with an anorak and duffle bag :)

Should your lottery win come in there maybe some room for negotiation with 46203, as their owners state they would consider overhauling her if they can raise £1 million! ;)

Nice thought! A family holiday at Butlins Pwllheli in 1965 saw me sat in the cab for most of the week ! I thought the LMS livery was so cool back then!

Railway Herald reports that 'Lizzie' has been steam tested and moved under her own power at 10A. Test runs shouldn't be too far away :)
