Chances are he’s read some of the dribble you type on here and decided it’s not worth his time!

I find poor punctuation offputting but one can just grin and bear it, or if one feels an overwhelming need to point it out (as I myself do sometimes) there are better ways of doing so than sarcasm.

Unless you like what others post keep it to yourself as that was well out of order

Keep up the defences boys, your saving me money.

As long as I have to stand on a commuter service to London, but have a bunch of "advisors" aimed at protecting my person from the cold winters weather on a steam charter.. then I won't be travelling.
I assume in summer advice will change and justify keeping everyone muted in their seats in the sweltering heat to protect them from sun burn if they stand at windows too ?

i take it back about travelling though, i will be travelling mainline in Germany in a few weeks, there common sense prevails and risk avoidance is deemed to be a split between service provider and the invidividual, it definitely feels much less about profit and more about community and heritage...

If the paying punters are happy with their lot thats all that matters, But as long as mainline steam trips like this exist, it still provides fantastic photographic opportunities to record the days of Mainline steam at little cost to the individual, so its not all negative...

Seems fair enough to me. If you have no real problem with people paying money to do these things if they are happy enough with their lot, then there is little reason for all the sneering.

Thanks for the help with my failing memory. I know that we were travelling towards Rawtenstall and so were on the side of the road nearer the railway where it was just a single line between the tunnels so, as you say, the train must have been bound for Bacup. As for the rock climbing . . .

You were doing it for fun though. This driver was lacking a window on the coldest day I have ever known, and the piece of cardboard didn't help that much!

Depends how accurate you want it to be, Leander is a long firebox Jubilee so would be OK as Seahorse but not Alberta. The real 45157 always carried a domeless boiler incidently

Due to popular demand the 2019 High peaks Explorer has been announced, with some changes to seating plans. Network Rail has been requested to ignore gauging issues with this configuration. Booking is open now.

At least those on the outside won't fall foul of the "no standing in vestibules" rule. :)
