Leaving Hampton Loade with an up (Kidderminster bound) train, and my chief inspector sitting in the van with me.
I give the green flag, climb into the van, and close the door. I calmly lob my flag onto the desk, and go to look out of the window to observe the train leaving the platform. As I attempt this, I heard a loud 'Bang' and feel some pain in the top of my head.
Looking round, I see my chief inspectior in fits of laughter.
"Try that again Ian," he giggles "this time with the window open!"

More embarassing, we didn't have that at the time, and the set hadn't had a wash for a few weeks.

im sure ive had a few embarrassing moments ian. was you at bewdley when 5164 was going off shed (santa special season) and the injector overflow gave me a scare. ron and the others commented on the dance. they also ask if i enjoyed my little trip to northwood. and incase you wasn't there, it was one of those moment where mr bradshaw actually laughs.

It wasn't the dance, it was the fact that when the steam wooshed out, all we heard from you was a scream and when the steam had cleared away, you had disappeared behind 46443's tender, all under about 2 seconds!

Gave the same inspector a good giggle the other day too, trying to start a DMU away from Arley, and watching the platform, rather than looking up at what my hands were doing, I ended up trying to give the driver the right away by pressing the light switch rather than the buzzer.

Hopped out of my guards van with flag and whistle in my hand, and looked at the clock, which was at the 30 second mark, so stood there for a while until the platform staff gave me the tip, and in that time I must have dropped my whistle, because when I recieved PDC from the station staff, I thought my whistle was in my mouth, and I blew, waved my flag, and then lost my composure and looked incredibly confused as to where my whistle had vanished. Heard a the loco whistle up and hopped on the van, much to the amusement of the platform staff who said it was one of the only times they've seen me lose my composure.

Also told some passengers who asked me when the train was returning to Rothley that they should remain on my train and we'd be departing in 10 minutes. 10 minutes later the train in the opposite platform departed, and the Station Master gave them a hearty laugh when they asked when they asked when the next train was for Rothley...answer given "The one that just left".

    Whoops! ](*,)

Daftest one I have ever done with a whistle (or lack of one) was at Highley on a hot day, where I had a habbit of leaping off the train (if there was time) and grabbing an Ice Cream in the sumer, or a brew in the winter, from the refreshment Kiosk, I returned to the train, went to give the right away, waved my flag, and blew my ice cream!

i have the best one yet i reckon, we were filming at wanders curve and the train went past and as it did so we saw what was probably the most disturbing thing we will ever see in our lives, the driver was pulling a mooney at us from the loco and before i get raped and murdered and probably banned this is not spam!

I was out with my mate Doc Mark on the footplate of 45110. We left Bridgnorth and he was telling me the art of fireing just going up Knowlesands and then we went in the tunnel. Doc turned round and said we're in the Tunnel now and i said No Sh*t Sherlock. lol and the driver bursted out laughing. \:D/ 8-[ \:D/

Doc Mark, showing you the art of firing? This is the same Doc Mark that once forgot to put any coal in? Lol, I think if he was on here, that, and the Bewdley re-signaling scheme would be his embarassing moments.
