Today's local (Blackburn) newspaper contains a photo of BIL and an article stating that the loco will be heading next Thursday's SSE from York to Scarborough and return. The article gives full pricing options and informs readers that they can board at Blackburn. It seems likely that the information comes from WCRC, who regularly advertise in the paper. It may, of course, be rubbish.

One thing which gives it a bit of credibility is that there is a path from Carnforth to York NRM on Friday 6th which might be for the 8F and might mean that is not stopping over at York from the SSEs for the Whitby Flyer. And there is also a path from York back to Carnforth via Settle Jct on the evening of Thursday 5th. So it might be credible rubbish!

It would make sense if it’s 35018 as the Great Britain on the 20th from York with 35018 at the helm would mean it could stay at York until then .

Seems to have been quite lightly loaded. 7 + POB. I wonder if it will be a similar story for the early season Dalesman's as per 2015. The load 12's + POB of last year would suggest maybe not.

Yes it was a light load, as I believe was today's.
Note how high the Ouse was in derobeck's photo, there were places towards Scarborough where water levels were only a few feet below track level...

Mirror finish. You can almost count the leaves on the trees in the reflection from the boiler. Medals to the painters. 48151-(10)-Weaverthorpe,-reflection-fbook.jpg

    Confirmation posted on WNXX Tuesday,

"Advance warning for the haulage enthusiasts out there, our friends at Colas have once again come up trumps with a loco for the Scarborough Spa Express on June 7th, they have offered us a class 70, to the best of my knowledge this will be the first Colas class 70 on a passenger train (although if anyone knows different I am happy to be corrected). For operational reasons a West Coast loco will be tucked inside.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our friends at Colas for once again supplying us with ‘something different’."

Neither would I, but nevertheless the diesel enthusiasts now have the chance of more miles of 70 haulage, I don't suppose the other passengers will be that concerned unless they crave 47 haulage. Could also be that the web site updater is not aware of the newness of a 70. :)
