A ban of at least a year from driving HGVs might "encourager les autres".

Send the TOTAL repair bill to the lorry driver personally plus any other incurred expenses & compensation, if they don't pay-a lengthy custodial sentence.
Also dismiss him from his job & revoke his HGV licence.

Good to see that the Nat Pres Judge and Jury people are still alive and kicking.

Whitby Flyer eTicket arrived this morning confirming B1 + 8F combination i.l.o. previously anticipated B1 + Jub. At first glance, timings appear to be as previously advised..........
    Out http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U52307/2018/04/07/advanced
    Return http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U52309/2018/04/07/advanced

So this will probably be one of the faster schedules against which the 8F has been pitted in recent times!! To reprise my previous post, York - Middlesborough main line segment (via the Northallerton Flyunder) just 54 minutes in the down direction for the 46 miles to Stockton Cut Junction (51 mph start-to-pass), before the slower approach past Thornaby and Tees Yard to Middlesborough, and 57 minutes in the up direction (48 mph pass-to-stop) over the same section.

Possibly 8F due to it being at York for SSE duties the wek before? Holding the Jubs back for GB turns the following week?

Good to get some mileage behind the 8F. It'll be the first time since doing Shap with it in 2014.

Question : In the exceptional circumstances where a charter in theory meets an NYMR service, how does this work out in practise?? (RTT data Saturday 7th April)
    1Z86 WTB-KGX depart Whitby 16.30/ arrive Grosmont 16.54
    1T16 XPK-WTB depart Grosmont 16.30/ arrive Whitby 16.52

When I have been on previous charters, NYMR passengers have been informed of a timetable change and some have travelled back to Grosmont on the charter, but don't know if that will apply this time.

Understand The Flyer is sold out Ralph so I guess that will not be an option as based on the S&C Tornado trips last year it seems every passenger on a charter train must have a seat. Good job they do not apply that to the Network on a daily basis, no one would get anywhere!

Looks like you were right Ralph. Must admit I had missed the Grosmont drop off an pick up so I guess the assumption is a lot will get off an ride the NYMR.
Would be difficult if everyone did stay on of course.

The last 2 charters were both diesel throughout so maybe not that many were actually interested in steam on the NYMR, this resulted in us having difficulty on the second one as there were not enough seats for the NYMR passengers. :(

In a few words - the points that were damaged at Glaisdale three months ago have still not been repaired - although I understand that this should have been rectified last month. Be interesting to see where the train will meet the 14.00 ex Whitby NYMR service!

I suppose it is better than 3 hours at Battersby, but far from ideal! Plus people will not be able to get in a round trip to Pickering either (landslip allowing).

It's been retimed to 1424 from Whitby. So at least that works.
