Title tweaked to just describe the incident.

Thanks for the change. It is very important and in collision does not suggest blame either way, whereas hit does. If anyone goes back to the Shropshire Star story they will see it too has been changed. This is correct journalistic practice (I am a former newspaper editor).

Pretty sure that the train collided with a rail vehicle on its side, sans bogies.

Without getting into any of the circumstances, is it possible to say how The Earl is?

The Earl had to work the following day as the Countess was involved in the accident! No serious damage we believe.

I note that the car involved was a Chevrolet Spark. Would it not be wise to fit all WLLR locomotives with spark arrestors to avoid further incidents of this kind?

Ironically, they do have spark arrestors!
