I wondered, personally, if it would be affected by the closure of the owner's Weston bus routes.

Really? - such promotion must have been rather low key then! - still looks like a lost opportunity from here - I am on the WSR most weeks through the summer, though I recognise the difficulty if the service is uncertain when the WSR TT has to be printed.

  3. I guess some folks might consider the promotion to be low key but perhaps it was never going to provide a massive return and therefore did not justify huge promotional time/expense or deserve greater visibility compared with those activities that provide greater return. I recall seeing the 'day out to Lynmouth' appearing regularly on the WSR website in 2017. So I think the repeat criticism of a 'lost opportunity' is a tad unfair.

This is the gift that keeps on giving. First there are arguments about loo roofs, catering and now a discussion is taking place about a bus route. What next?!

The Lynton and Lynmouth Explorer ran for a number of years on selected Fridays. It met the first down train at Minehead and took passengers across Exmoor, gave them time in the twin villages to explore and have lunch and got them back to Minehead in time for the last steam train. Leaflets were out and about on the Railway and sent to local TIC's etc. Tickets were bookable on the website or by phone.

I wonder how the denizens of the Minehead Chamber of Commerce would feel about the WSR promoting a service that allows people to travel from far and wide by train to Minehead so they can go on and spend their lunch money in Lynton? ;)

Exactly what is wrong about a relevant discussion connected with the WSR?

If we are not careful, we will find ourselves having a discussion about whether it is legitimate to have a discussion about whether it is legitimate to have a discussion about whether it is legitimate to have a discussion about whether it is legitimate to have a discussion about whether it is legitimate to have a discussion about whether it is legitimate to have a discussion about an aspect of the WSR.

A slip coach perhaps as per the Chairman’s blog?

A slip coach, now that would be an interesting additional, and unique, attraction for a gala.
