Looks rather like the stock used in the 100mph run.

Well, here's a thing: those that are unhappy about this and are on this train - make your feelings known, politely, to the A1SLT representatives that will be on it.

Are these restrictions in place for tomorrow, or are you referring to Bitterns 90 run ?

Alan, are these the only restrictions for Tornado tomorrow? It seems unusual that these 75mph restrictions are in place for Tornado but they weren't for Bittern back in 2013 on the Hitchin-Huntingdon section.

What’s the point in authorising 90 from Claypole then? By the time they hit 90 after Claypole it’ll be time to shut off for Carlton’s restriction and by the time they hit 90 after Carlton it’ll be time to shut off for Tuxford...

Not quite so silly o'clock as some but still on the 6:04 from Banbury and fingers crossed until we're at the Cross. We're in the front of the front passenger coach so we'll hit 90 mph before anyone else does (only kidding I do know how couplings work).

Hope it's a great run for all involved and personally, I couldn't give a toss about the stock - that's not what tomorrow's about for me. If it goes well it sets an excellent precedent for perhaps one or two other Class 8 engines to be allowed at 90 mph and I would pay a lot to be behind the beloved Clan Line when that happens - even if it's hauling horse boxes. Good luck to all involved.

I've got my GPS speedometer app ready on my phone; checked it in the car last night and it agreed with my sat-nav in saying that the car has a constant +2 mph error on the car's speedometer. I can prop the phone up whilst I'm eating my dinner!

Looks like it. Possibly also a 60 restriction south of Hitchin as well.

They are not passenger carrying vehicles. Lead coach is a generator car, second is a crew coach and there is a kitchen car within the rake.

Thanks, that makes some sense. I'm assuming then that the kitchen car has no passenger seating, so it's only staff travelling in these vehicles. However surely passengers will pass through the kitchen car, and staff will be present in both the POB and the kitchen car.
Seems daft to me to allow staff in these vehicles and passengers to pass through them if they are not deemed ok for passengers to travel in. If the worst happens, the fact they are staff, or just passing through isn't going to help them...
I guess it just shows how illogical the ruling is.
Edit: @Bean-counter posted a copy of the exemption in post #118, and it says:

The rolling stock must not be operated at a speed exceeding 120 kph (75 mph) for
steam operations or at a speed not exceeding the plated speed of the coach for
    electric or diesel operations.

It doesn't say it's OK if not used for passenger accomodation. Strange!

Its complete weirdness, You can run the stock at 100mph, unless its got warm bodies in it and then its restricted to 75mph. Its just like the old days of railways when they thought your innards would explode if you went over 15 mph.

Even more wierd than that though, isn't it?

Warm bodies safe at 100mph if diesel or electric hauled, but innards will explode if steam hauled above 75mph...

Coach H is next to the support carriage and loco. Coach A is at the rear, next to a Mk. 1 and the generator car.

    Wish I'd brought earplugs.

Doesn't the authorisation, like any other speed limit mean up to, not must do.
