Unless I missed it, 48151 is still at York. Is this another "just in case" to cover for 35018 if necessary, or dare we hope for a double header York-Carlisle?

48151 went back to Carnforth with the Whitby flyer on Saturday tucked behind the diesel I believe

It's the allocated loco for the SSE programme, but I fancy a sprightly run up the Aire valley and a solo MN attack of the Long Drag.

The last two years I have filmed the GB the can has been attached to the back Al . 45699 around the Cumbrian Coast and then over Beattock in 2016 had one and 46233 last year had one attached South over Beattock but it is good news for all if it will be shadowing this year .

Pics on FB (Railway Photographic Group) of (6)1264 departing Pickering by road! Seems an unusual method of transport (under normal circumstances for a ML loco) but is she still heading to Perth for GB XI?

Saw on the Grosmont MPD FB page that 1264 hadn’t been gauged north of Darlington, then Network Rail came round and said there wasn’t time to complete gauging. Also posted that the low loader was delivering her to Bo’ness.

It seems incredible NR has been unable to gauge the loco given the length of time it must have had to do so as well as having obviously managed it for the other routes required for the GB. At least that hasn't stopped the show so credit to all concerned for having the determination to get the loco to where it is needed.

With 4-5 days of warm weather predicted for the south, I wonder if a potential fire risk could play apart in the final days of the GB ?

As the entire country is sodden from weeks of rain, I somehow doubt it. There's more chance of it reducing the risk of landslips and sinkholes.

It is already amazingly dry down here in Swanage yet it was still raining over the weekend. Remember there was a fair size heathland fire during the Swanage Gala in March, which the nature reserve people were saying was started by the railway, although they were not so sure. Either way it still burnt and needed fire service attendance.

Don't you just love the optimist! By the time that GBXI gets down south the weather will be back to the normal April mix.
