I think others might have something more like this mind.

    https://www.electric-fence.co.uk/voss-farming-electric-fence-kit-for-sheep-with-mains-energiser.html

It'll certainly look less out of place for the photographers.

But what about those with heart conditions . Have you ever been shocked by an electric fence ?

I remember how our dog reacted when he decided to cock his leg up against an electric fence support post....

Fortunately I haven't been shocked like that but when I was about 8 or 9 I tested the conductivity of a dock leaf and I can confirm they are very conductive , so much so it was the only time .

Today is the warmest day of the year here by the Moray Firth, and I just wondered if the wild bees/wasps at the Crowcombe Heathfield signal box have been removed during the winter, or will they soon be flying around the webcam again?

One of the fascinating features of the WSR operations thread is that you can never tell what you're going to find when you've been away from it for a day - tea cosys for trains, dogs weeing against electric fences - is there no end to the variety of matters affecting the workings of the WSR?!

The little story recounted here reminds me of a tale my Dad told us. He worked designing aircraft navigation and landing aids, and often had to do site visits to airports and military air bases both to plan and to troubleshoot new equipment.
On one RAF base a new radar installation sited near the base boundary at the end of a runway proved troublesome - cutting out at around the same time every night. They checked over the equipment again and again, and in the end, suspecting foul play, some of the team went and hid in the bushes nearby to see if anybody tampered with it. As the hour approached they got ready, and watched as the perimeter patrol, with their dogs, came along. Whereupon one of the dogs cocked his leg against the equipment box, as he had been doing night after night ever since the thing had been put there, and the equipment shut down...

Just as well nothing was landing!

    I farm.

    I have.

    It was a joke.

The smiley face was meant to be a clue I was not being serious. In the real world it probably wouldn't have gone tick twice before Little Jonny's hair was standing on end and Robin was being called in to defend the railway against a claim.

Bound to be someone knit picking about thread drift - possibly even woolly thinking as well - Always wondered where Cosy Powell got his name from... :)

Is thread drift the same as dropped stitches?

Better be careful though - someone might start throwing around accusations of a cover-up.

    Ok, so I'm on holiday!

If your real name is Colin Flooks and you want to be a hard rock drummer then changing your name is a good career move. Powell was IIRC his mother's name. I have seen this chap drum the 1812 overture and it was like God shouting. An awesome musician and sorely missed.

    Crikey, talk about thread drift.

Anyway, loco availability on SECs is also dictated by which locos are in washout. Regardless of what you get, I guarantee you will have an excellent day out. Enjoy it !

At someone else's expense... Southern Locomotives Ltd 34072 257 Squadron(unrebuilt) is complete after a major overhaul. 34028 Eddystone (rebuilt) and 34070 Manston (unrebuilt) are in the queue, and Sidmouth 34010 too (may take 6 years). 'Someone else' is usually the shareholders (donators!)... or income from steaming fees.
Never mind moderation... these are wonderful Pacifics....

I assume that’s an abbreviation. In which case, given some ACE posts, I stand by my position
