I see that this is a visit of the Belmond Pullman train on a Penzance to Minehead tour. It is being marketed as a visit to Dunster Castle. I presume that passengers wishing to go to Dunster will be taken by coach from Taunton or Bishops Lydeard as there will be insufficient time otherwise. The train is only due to spend about 65 mins in Minehead !
Also I am not sure that Class 67 diesels are any longer permitted on the WSR ?

The Belmond website states that passengers alight at BL, road coaches take the Dunster passengers forward, and the rest transfer to a WSR steam train for Watchet. Minehead doesn't seem to be an option.. Class 67s are RA8 so could be allowed. In the past, pairs were OK but single ones have been double headed with a DEPG loco as they can't cope with heavy loads at 25mph!

The WSR beyond Bishops Lydeard is RA5 or RA6 depending on which part of the Draft Corporate Plan you read.

  6. My understanding is that the Pullman will work to Bishops Lydeard and no further (Class 67s top/tail to/from Taunton). Passengers will change to a limited-stop steam-hauled charter (53808) leaving at 1315 for Watchet, Dunster and Minehead, returning from Minehead at 1515, picking up at Dunster, Watchet, then change at Bishops Lydeard. Current info kindly provided by WSR Plc yesterday. Hopefully all will become clear when next week's Ops Notice is published tomorrow (I can't bring myself to call it a "WON" yet ;) )

Never thought I'd see the day when there was no activity on this thread
    for more than three days!

Have we all run out of non-WSR nonsense to post?

    Hardly. Your wish is..,

I was in Manchester yesterday, delivering some transgender law and practice training for Pennine Heathcare. Splendid of them to name a train to reflect the event...

My attempt at being humorous, the point being you can repaint a 67, make it look nice and shiny but, it's still not that good!

    Thread drift alert!

Why is that the view of the Class 67 but enthusiasts seem to have taken to the Class 68?

(Views I share, I suspect because the Class 67 meant the end of the Class RES 47s)
